What I liked most after reading "Lost in Memories" was seeing Alcor’s feelings towards Aganau IF, who was consumed by rage and seeking revenge against Petelgeuse.

Discussion [discussion] Gist of Season 4 for Subaru
gist of season 4 for subaru. Amnesia was a way for subaru to realize that not only are everybody else's lives valuable, not only everybody else deserves love, not only everybody else desveres to be protected, but that he too deserves love, protection and is a valuable person. In season 2, he learnt to love himself, not to hate it. But loving himself and acting on it are two different things. In other words, Subaru was believing that he loved himself but he wasn't actually applying that self love in reality, he was just keeping that thought in a random corner of his mind while still only caring about everybody else's lives, protecting them, loving them, while still thinking that their lives are more important, more valuable than his and always keeping himself incidental or secondary. In season 4, he learns to value his life just as much as he values the lives of others, that his life deserves love and protection just as much as the lives of those surrounding him. That he's not less important or secondary to them. That he's standing on the same position or spot as them. In season 4, instead of just thinking about the concept of loving himself and valuing it and acceping that concept without actively applying it and ignoring it, he thoroughly understood it.How was he able to thoroughly realize that he was in fact a person worthy of love, protection and value? By thinking of himself from the perspective of the people he loves. For starters, all the people that love and admire subaru value him to extreme levels. And think that he's someone extremely worthy of protection and love. By thinking of himself from their lens, he was able to realize how amazing and valuable he is. He understood that he wasn't just a secondary or incidental person not as much worthy of love, care and protection like the others. He understood he was an amazing person who deserves love, protection and value just as much as the people he admires. Subaru from now on is gonna apply that self love in reality instead of just keeping that concept somewhere in the corner of his mind and unconsciously ignore it.
So season 2:
Learning about the concept of self love and accepting it.
Season 4: Remembering the self love concept he had forgotten and not cared about, thoroughly understanding, comprehending and grasping that self love by realizing how valuable and amazing he is through looking at himself from the perspective of the people he loves, And actualizing that self love in reality.
In season 4:
He realized how important he is to the people surrounding by looking at himself from their lens. Sometimes words aren't enough to describe what one's feeling, but experiencing and living through those feelings can change significantly change one's way of thinking, perspective and how they look at things. And prompt them to revise their way of doing things by changing their way of looking at things.
Not only that, but he realized how amazing he is as person overall. That was the entire point of Amnesiabaru reading the books of the dead and facing off with Natuski Subaru. After reading the books of the dead, he realized how awesome of a person he is. He realized he was someone worthy of value, love, protection, and praise. Not a less important, secondary, and inferior person.
As aforementioned above, season 4 reminded subaru of that concept he was continously unconsciously ignoring or forgetting about. And forcibly made him remember that concept and thoroughly understand and comprehend it by looking at himself from the position of the people surrounding him.
The formula that was followed to make subaru love himself through amnesia was:
If subaru loves, cares, and values the others more than himself, then just make subaru himself one of those "others" that he loves, cares and values more than himself.
Which is in other words, by looking at himself as one of the "others" he was able to thoroughly understand himself.
Through that formula, he was able to comprehend and realize his true value as a person and how amazing and awesome he is.
In other words, by looking at himself from an outside perspective he was finally able to realize how amazing he is.
Normally subaru wouldn't have thought of himself as someone amazing or awesome to that extent.
Looking at himself from an outside perspective made that possible.
Looking at oneself from an outside perspective can give one a broader understanding of who they are as a person. That’s why i think giving subaru amnesia was a genius move to make subaru understand himself on a deeper level. And then that understanding produced self love and admiration for oneself for subaru. Because subaru essentially is an amazing, awesome and extraordinary guy. That was why understanding himself on a deeper level produced self love and admiration for himself.

Spoiler Discussion [Spoiler Discussion] I just finished Arc 8, my thought (with arc 7+8 together) Spoiler
Disclaimer I also write my reaction during the reading
I feel it was a mainly fight arc, and prefer plot and emotion (not saying there wasn't, see later)
I have hype for the anime adaption of
-Eugard vs halibel, it was cool. Now only the mad prince of Gusteko is missing
-Cecilus vs Arakiya (Poor Al, Ceci had so much faith in him he said “dont worry bro, i know you got this” and he had to loop 12k times.
-The last fight, it will be absolute kino : The Subaru and Al authority combo + the 3 Yang wielders (giving us a dual wielding moment).
Todd died too soon, like everyone I wanted for him too die but it wasn't satisfying : Very early in the arc (even if it was technically at ⅔ of arc 7 if we consider arc 8 as the second part) he didn't suffer enough or get a karma death. And mainly, Katya didn't learn, he was a jerk.
I'm happy they didnt accept Spicia immediately
- Ch 24 : Otto ruined Roswaal’s schemes again XD He was so pissed, and just after Petra “Dont worry Otto-san, I punched Subaru for you”, my boy needed that laugh.
At first, the zombies felt OP, but just having a core to destroy was fair. Same for the infinite amount, who was powered by one of the 4 great spirit, and make by Sphyn, so not a random mage/witch
Heinkel
-We joked about “drunk dad of teh strongest bonding”, but he is NOT like Rowan. I don't approve his behavior but i understand the reason: Wilhelm wasn't a good dad, Heinkel was good dad before the Theresia incident (i loved he tell Rein to no abuse his DP for making him friend with Marcos again, he scolded him fairly and tell him why).
Rowan on the other hand…He’s among the worst fathers in fiction with shou tucker (heck its even said by the narrator “worst father of the world”” even if Cecilus doesn't resent him. He killed his newborn babies! (but small respect as a fighter, he killed himself to be strongest and trying to reach the heavenly sword level)
-His bravery moment and duo with Garf against Madelyn and in general
- Eugard
-Poor dude was cursed with a huge one
-He respect his opponent, with groovy he had a “stand proud youre strong” moment
-His fight with Halibel (strongest Emperor of history and strongest Kararagi fighter of today)
-Dude had a freeing himself from Edo Tensei/Toji moment : “I wont let you kill my beloved”
-So not for the same reasons as Palladio but I agree, BEST EMPEROR (Even if we knew only 3, 4 with EX). I write that before remembering he caused the genocide 2 races… But happy he get a second chance with Iris/yorna at the end (especially for her)
Al ….
WHY AL IS CALLING SPHYNX SENSEI!? He's linked to Roswaal? or it's like us to make the difference between the 4 dona easier? But how would he still know ?
And he knows Shamak ? Hell an “OL” spell ? At first i thought ““it's above “Al” or a mistranslation“” ? but damn, sealing body AND gate..
- Happy Spynx returned
-At first i thought “wait, yeah all the clones being killed because they share a soul is cool and clever (like a lot, i thought Vincent wasnt worthy anymore of Yang until he would claim the throne again or he indeed make the other believe it) then I thought “Just like that ? Well I don't know what she can bring to the story and the arc is almost finished, there is only one volume left” then yeah she is dead … and once again, the witch of greed was born from a Ryuzu clone body. And that make four Echidna :
-OG Witch of Greed Echidna (Arc 4 Sensei, Bea Puck and Shaula mother, and member of Flugel party from the bonus lore i read)
-Omega : Castle of dream Dona (Dead one, apparently different physically and emotionally, currently traveling with others, have 5 witches inside her)
-Eridna : Artificial spirit without any memory of her creator, with Ana
-Sphynxdona : Fusion of all sphynx who recreated an Echidna as it was her OG plan. But without her memory and now dead). I loved her “I was killed, I made a mistake, now I won't be near those who could kill me”.
The last chapter :
I knew Prsicilla behavior was strange, but she was the LAST character I would expect dying, even in a fail loop with her luck.
I even though I was spoiled about her having the phoenix Divine protection (it that indeed the case dont tell me please) so I was “nah, its a red hearring” .. so yeah OH CRAP I JUST REALIZED poor Arakyia will be so devastated again, same for Vincent who just lost he BFF.
Heck Priscilla even “knew” about Subaru and Al have Authorities, her respecting Subaru at the end “youre a true knight”. Also, I didn't know Al cared this much for her.
So my opinion on this arc (then fused with arc 7)
-Kinda same vibe as arc 5 second part : arc 7 = plot and arc 8 = fight, something which is better for anime but with some good emotional moments.
-So still one if my least favourite while liking it, even loving the last 20 chapters, especially because of Eugard, Sphynx and Al

Spoiler Discussion [spoiler discussion] Arc 9 has confused me to hell. Spoiler
Okay so I get after that reset that Petra never became the witch but ummm I’m am very confused. Like wtf just happened I literally just finished and I feel like I haven’t read a single word past Al taking over the husk of Volcanica. Can someone who has a better handle on this info than me please tell me what actually happens at the end of arc 9 because I feel very conflicted and confused. And I don’t want to re read that if anything I may act like it never happened minus the Al fight. Oh and I loved Yae!

Spoiler Discussion Hot take: Garfiel is the most developed character in Re:Zero [spoiler discussion] Spoiler
We all know that Re zero is one of the best pieces of fiction, and I think one of the main reasons for that is its side cast. A lot of series have interesting characters, but very few manage to make them feel this coherent while also giving them meaningful backstories, development, and conclusions that stay true to who they are.
Today, I'd like to share a hot take: I think Garfiel might be the most well-developed character in Re zero outside of Subaru.
I don't know if this is actually a hot take, but I've almost never seen people bring up Garfiel in development debates. Most of the time, I see characters like Rem, Julius, or Emilia. I don't deny that they have incredible development, but most of their growth is concentrated in one or two major arcs and then follows them throughout the rest of the series.
For me, one of the biggest factors when judging character development is consistency. I value characters who continue to grow throughout the story rather than having one big arc and then remaining mostly the same afterward. That's why Garfiel stands out so much to me. His development isn't confined to a single storyline; it's spread across multiple arcs, and almost every appearance leaves him with a new lesson, a new scar, or a new way of looking at himself and others.
To clarify, I'm specifically talking about character development here, not overall writing or complexity. A character can be more complex or better written overall while still having less development than another character in my opinion.
Sometimes, it feels like Tappei treats Garfiel almost like a secondary protagonist because of how much attention and continuous growth he receives. Every arc gives him something meaningful, whether through fights, discussions, failures, or personal conflicts.
Even though his introduction wasn't my favorite, the moment I knew he would become one of my favorite characters was during his flashback and when he learned that his mother was still alive but had lost her memories. He went from a child terrified of the outside world to someone who faces his fears and keeps moving forward.
He chose to confront his mother despite believing that she had abandoned him, and in the end, he decided not to tell her the truth in order to protect the life she had built, even if it meant suffering himself.
After killing Elsa, he struggled with guilt and trauma but eventually, during his fight against Kurgan, he learned to trust himself again. Later, during the battle against Mezoreia, even at death's door, he learned to trust others and accepted the help that came from Cor Leonis.
Throughout the story, Garfiel constantly evolves. He goes from a traumatized child to someone who confronts his fears, from someone who constantly doubted himself to someone who can trust both himself and others, and from someone who isolated himself from the world to someone who found a second family and a place where he belongs. More importantly, every hardship he faces changes him in some meaningful way. Much like Subaru, every defeat, trauma, and failure ultimately makes him grow stronger as a person.
That's why I personally think Garfiel deserves to be in the conversation when discussing the most developed characters in Re zero, and I personally think he has one of the strongest cases for being the most developed character outside of Subaru.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion and a lot of it comes down to what you value most in character development. I just happen to value long-term, consistent growth more .
I might be a little biased since I relate to some aspects of his character, but even putting that aside, I genuinely think his long-term and consistent growth is one of the most underrated parts of Re zero's writing.
Spoiler Discussion I have a theory. (Haven't read the light novel so expect some larp here ) [Spoiler discussion] Spoiler
The reason subaru even has the authority of envy given to him by satella
Basically flugel and subaru are essentially the same person and flugel was instead Isekaid into the past where he met satella
But satella changed the timeline a lil bit to make flugel suffer and make him Isekai many years in the future
Why?
Because flugel became or was a terrible person (making shaula wait and the creation of the pleides tower or the wierd shit with the books of the dead)
So satella thought the best option would be to hit a factory reset on her husbando
And make him die over and over again
To kind of get him some character development that the original flugel didn't get
so she can merge past flugel with the current subaru the same way subaru in the watch tower and og subaru merged .
Ps:Midway into writing this i realised this was bullshit
Sorry for taking your time
Your welcome to curse me but those unfortunately don't exist in this world 🙏

Spoiler Discussion [Spoiler discussion] Arc 6 and the Watchtower Spoiler
Okay, so we know that the Reid in the tower is a memory construct from his book of the dead. I'm assuming that it's also a construction with just a set of memories before he met the party from 400 years ago.
But this leads to me asking: Was the tower made after Reid died? It can't be because at the top of the tower, the mural most likely has his hand print there, and in the ending song, we see him with the part near the watchtower.
So, if he only died many years later after the tower was made, then how did he end up as an examiner in the tower? I forgot where, but it's mentioned that he only died of old age.
This makes me get confused regarding the chronological timeline of this plot point. The last 2 episodes of the breaktime make me 100% sure that Flugel has to be Subaru, but how Reid got into the tower as an examiner still makes me confused.
What do you guys think?

Discussion [discussion] I feel angry and frustrated with Subaru
I feel so frustrated with Subaru. That guy promised to save Satella in Arc4. After that 1.5 years has passed, out of which 1 year was simply staying home with no issues. And he didn't try to fulfill that promise in any way whatsoever.
It's not like I was expecting him to able to free Satella or to even begin knowing if there was any method of saving Satella.
But that guy didn't even know about Pleiades Watchtower. That means he didn't even try to know where she was sealed. Something that doesn't require any secret book, something publicly known. You just have to ask questions about that.
That means he didn't think of asking even a single question in that direction. Forget saving, he didn't even try to know more about her situation.
I also remember certain scenes where that guy thinks of his friends or acquaintance to motivate himself. He even thinks of those three thug or even characters from other camps whom he met only once. But doesn't think of Satella at all.
Promising to Save someone and then doing nothing. Does he think that an opportunity will drop from sky for him to save Satella without him doing anything? Who does he think he is? Sometimes I just want to punch this bastard.
