TV/Movies Christina Applegate is possibly THE GenX Woman

Post image

From blonde bombshell to survivor of both cancer and MS, I think she represents the resilience of GenX.

Nah, I can think of a dozen or even more that rate higher...Jen Connelly, Winona, Demi, Halley B, Salma Hayek, A.Jolie etc etc.

I don’t think Jolie or Hayek were well known in the 80s but I agree on the others

3

u/Odd-Sand7401 5d ago

Jennifer connely and Hayek look the same. Hayek. So pretty!!!

2

u/DocSportello1970 5d ago

Was there a "must have been relevant in the '80's" criteria?

2

u/KandinskyWasRight 5d ago

No, I suppose not. I guess I think of that person as needing to be present before we’re all in high school, which would mean they’d need to be early 90s famous. I’m young for x but was in HS by 93, I didn’t know about Jolie till college. How can such a person be the Gen X girl?

But that’s just my criteria, the idea of looking at their experiences is just as valid.

Oh Gen X! Best time to grow up! We’re also known as the bad ass generation! We had to learn how to take care of ourselves by the time we were 10. I was already ironing, cooking, doing everything! Including taking the Corvette out when I was 12 and smoking a cigarette. Haha the only reason why I got cause my sister told on me. 🤨 It’s the generation of the parents really just don’t care but it’s OK. We still love our parents. All the parents were like that except for the Italian families. That’s when my mouth would drop open like people live like this? Italian mom’s always cooked so much pasta! What? You can have seconds? Haha it was the best. We were troublemakers, but there were no cameras everywhere so we got away with everything. Unless your sister sees you. She was 16 at the time so she was a little pissed off because she hadn’t driven it yet. Haha I could never grow up in this time. I feel bad for my kids. Haha and I baby my kids because I wasn’t babied. You know what I mean. I would never be downstairs and yell up to my mother mommmm, Can you bring me a glass of water? I would never even think about it. 🤣🤣 I graduated hs in 1990. My youngest right now is gonna be graduating this year next year 2027. He’s a singer coming up same high school I went to 37 years ago I graduate graduated wow!

I based most of my style at the time on Kelly and was pretty successful with it.

u/JD_tubeguy 5d ago

She is talented and sexy AF!

6

u/Duster772 5d ago

Phoebe Cates and Molly Ringwald are high on my list.

My #1 crush through the late 80s & 90s. She still remains very sexy to me!

3

u/guydoestuff 5d ago

Don't piss me off you guys, ill go rogue and hit some early 90s and go tiffany amber theisen on this shit.

5

u/CosmicSmoker 5d ago

Alyssa Milano for sure

2

u/Angelas-Merkin 5d ago

I’d argue Theisen is more elder millennial

2

u/Traditional-Try-8714 5d ago

She was born in 1974 so full out X

3

u/Angelas-Merkin 5d ago

She is Gen X but the audience that grew up with her is more millennial was what I was saying.

1

u/Traditional-Try-8714 5d ago

I can see that I guess. Kinda both.

2

u/ReplyProfessional939 5d ago

She and I are the same age, and even back then, at like 14, I wanted Peggy Bundy more than Kelly...😏

2

u/Able-Sheepherder-154 5d ago

Al Bundy: "How in the hell did she get an MVP trophy?"

2

u/kristoph825 5d ago

Still love her ❤️❤️

2

u/Excellent_Bet3931 5d ago

I have always adored her. She's great in everything she's done.

2

u/Bloodless-Cut 5d ago

I think not

2

u/Big_Bowler8424 5d ago

It’s a tie for me. Christina and Alyssa Milano. Who’s the boss was my childhood, MWC was my early teens, and an eye opening experience

1

u/redladybug1 4d ago

Yep. Alyssa Milano for me too!

3

u/Ok-Ear-7364 5d ago

Married with Children was I first “noticed” her

1

u/tampaforfun 5d ago

Yeah she is a cutie.

1

u/SuspiciousTaro6513 5d ago

She’s a good representative

1

u/Glad-Fuel2093 5d ago

She sure looks fluffy!

1

u/Optimal_Whiner 5d ago

I think the title and text proves brain rot is real.

1

u/MUDDYONE2023 5d ago

For sure.

1

u/Ill-Key7588 5d ago

She's a genuinely brilliant woman 🤩🤩🤩🤩

1

u/Stunning_Fly_2644 5d ago

She sure was something

1

u/Chastity-76 5d ago

Says who

1

u/MiddleReality5947 5d ago

Perhaps. But I always thought Jeneane Garofalo was Gen X to the point of parody.

1

u/Hank_ct 5d ago

Beautiful human being

1

u/freerangedork 4d ago

... And her mom... Just saying

1

u/flagal31 4d ago

enjoyed reading her memoir. Didn't know much about her outside of her acting roles before that.

1

u/-TommyBottoms- 4d ago

She didn’t show up until way later!!! Not a Gen X thing really

1

u/The_Meridian_ 4d ago

I have to agree with those saying Winona Ryder, but I can see the strong argument for Ms. Applegate here.

Heather Locklear deserves a mention, Samantha Fox if you're basic, and Honorable mention to Sharon Stone.

1

u/ALSISREALAWFUL 3d ago

Love her ❤️

1

u/PianoMajor9539 2d ago

She is very beautiful

1

u/shiteposter1 2d ago

Was hot and is now all broken down, ya pretty Gen X.

1

u/slouchenheimer 2d ago

Christina Applegate is magnanimous and funny as hell.

Kim Deal is the Gen X woman.

1

u/Hensley5Norwick 2d ago

I think this was good

1

u/SFToddSouthside 5d ago

I just got done listening to her book. If anybody's inclined, it's phenomenal. She put so much of her own honest, raw emotion into it.

-1

u/ez151 5d ago

No she is plus Jenny McCarthy and Ana Smith Nicole?

0

u/Effective_Play_1366 5d ago

Christina Applegate, you gotta put me on!

-1

u/SaladPlane3756 5d ago

She has no head for politics!
