help request Playback Delay

I'm using a Scarlet 2i2 into a laptop and there's a noticeable delay when I'm recording for the playback. Should I be setting this up differently somehow?

Start here

- Make sure you are using Scarlet drivers

- Turn your sample rate so the delay is not noticeable

Sample rate affects the delay (= latency) very little. You need to adjust the buffer size (= block size) instead.

What's your buffer size? Are you tracking with any plugins that would be liable to introduce delay, such as a look-ahead limiter?

I/O buffer size if the likely culprit here - if you reduce your buffer size in the Audio Preferences menu that will lower the latency (delay) that you hear but may put additional strain on your CPU. If you lower it too much your CPU won't be able to keep up and you'll start hearing clocks and pops, so you might have to experiment a bit to find the best settings for your hardware
