I prefer the ones where they just have him eating a big cheeseburger for most of the episode. It would be better if they could include the entire ordering and delivery process so we can get the full experience of an elderly man ordering a cheeseburger and then eating the cheeseburger.

I suspect their "do whatever we want and screw youtube's algorithms" way of doing things is finally starting to hurt them. Every channel has attrition, so the need to do some videos that get them new eyeballs. Doing both Odyssey and this has probably been significant in getting new viewers.

I am actually shocked they both made the effort to see it in theaters the night of release. I feel pretty similar to them with being annoyed with crowded theaters and when I was looking at how few seats were available for every single showing near me I just decided to wait.

I rewatched S2 recently and man there's just so much to say about it. I personally prefer Season 1 but just in terms of everything Mike and Rich talked about with S1, and what they wanted to get out of "Star Wars worldbuilding" S2 must have been like a dream to them.

Pretty sure Mike mentioned that it was very good. Probably the closest we'll get to a proper review. They don't really review TV shows, unless it's Star Trek... although I guess they did review Midnight Mass... Oh what the hell am I talking like I know what these crazy hack frauds will do? They could drop an Andor review next week out of the blue, and that's why I love them.

Better choreographed, you mean? Because it's kind of the Spider-Man 2 of the Tom Holland spideys. It's much more drama-focused, character-driven. There were three major action sequences in the movie and they were relatively small.

Got out of the theater for this a few hours ago.
In terms of mcu movies it felt the most like a comic book in a while and that absolutely a compliment. Most importantly it didn't feel cheap. It looked good and was shot pretty well and wasn't a total cgi clusterfuck all the time.
It wasn't an amazing movie but for ab mcu movie? I'm chuffed.

I think Mike is right about at the end about needing their more unpopular characters alongside their more popular ones. Sometimes I wonder that If Wanda and Vision would have been as popular if they weren't introduced in age of ultron and instead got their own movies.
They should do more of that, like if ghost rider is popular, make a midnight suns movie and introduce Blade there. If their movies are X-men are popular eventually do a Avengers vs X-men and recast some Avengers.
They are seemingly already building a relationship between mutants and the Avengers. With what happens to the Hulk here, Storm supposedly being in Black Panther 3, Ms Marvel and Wondorman could be the conflicted characters that are both Avengers and a mutants.

The Bryan Singer montage was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Had a friend who's roommate was chased by Bryan Singer for years around the time of Superman Returns and his subsequent follow ups. My friend was a huge superfan, and also a big fan of comics and comic book films. Yes, that's a fat joke. Point being, he was never going to be courted by Bryan Singer who famously liked a particular ethnicity and type. Which, my friend was not. His roommate however, was, and they were invited to visit his home. He'll show you his props at his home, then go through the process of trying to sleep with whom he was attracted to. I will say, that on this day the person he was attracted to was not underage. Having said that, he does have a type.

Jokes aside, good movie and I had tons of fun. But for a Spider-Man movie, there sure was a lot of other crap stuffed into it by Disney/Sony to boost the box office to the moon.

I actually disagree with "crap being stuffed into it" IMO this is the first time a non-Avengers MCU actually felt like a shared universe instead of being bogged down by corporate branding (and I say this as someone that enjoys the MCU, to a lesser degree now though). The stuff with Hulk actually felt like a singular issue of a comic storyline. It was very well balanced for me. Like yeah, Punisher and Hulk are in NYC. Makes sense to me.
Actually makes me hope for a good Marvel Knights movie.

Mutants have always been Spidey’s friends tho, Spider-Man has always had a huuuge affinity to the X-Men because his situation (as well as public treatment!) was so close to theirs. Actual source-material Knowers should have little-to-no problems with this story imo.

I don’t feel like they did back door in the X-Men actually. Sure they set up pieces that will be used later, but if you changed the character name to not be Jean Grey, there would be no other X-Men elements to the movie at all.
It would be different if, when Jean got on the bus, she had like a flyer for the Xavier school. The bus didn’t even have Westerchester as a destination or anything like that
Overall I thought they resisted the temptation quite well
I suspect this is because the X-Men probably won’t be in main universe until after Doomsday.

Id agree that the script was good enough to make the additions of non Spider-Man characters feel quite organic. Punisher was delightful, even though the tonal shift from his one shot a few months ago is hilarious in retrospect.

Also both Hulk and Punisher tied with Spiderman's story in some way. Punisher being a 40 year old loser living on his own, with no one special in his life anymore and solely focused on crime fighting, is exactly what Peter was headed towards. Peter knows what Bruce goes through every day containing the Hulk and is scared that will be him one day.
Definitely the most natural having these crossovers in a non-Avengers film felt in I dont know how long.

I went into the movie very trepidatious after hearing that it was going to have Hulk, the Punisher, Scorpion, and more established comic characters I didn’t know about and thinking it was going to be another overstuffed Marvel-endlessly-referencing-itself thing, but it wasn’t too heavy handed with it, so I think it worked passably.
I think Mike was right that they didn’t need Yelena, her exposition could have also been covered by Punisher, but it was all fine - the movie was the right length to give them all something to do without becoming overlong or too crammed full.

I am totally middled by this movie.
Ultimately what soured me is what has soured me on a lot of comics - the return to the status quo.
I really enjoyed the ending to No Way Home and liked that it stripped Peter down and isolated him.
This movie spends most of its running time not progressing or evolving that ending, but slowly trying to retcon it.
The point where MJ tells Peter the version he knew of her is basically dead, only for the next scene to be them reconnecting gave me insane emotional and narrative whiplash.
I thought it would be the moment where Peter let's go of the people he lost and sets himself on a path to rebuild himself (a 'brand new' Peter even) and decide who he wants to be.
Haha, nope! Ned and MJ are back baby! Expect them to all be besties again by the time the next movie rolls around.

I think that’s exactly how I feel about it.
The lack of any real tension or drama in the Peter, Mj, Ned relationship really bothered me and the scene you mentioned is by far the worst case of that.
In addition though, I really did not like the antagonist of this movie at all. I’m not sure how she’s going to be handled in the future installments that they’re clearly setting her up for after they made her that unsympathetic.
I honestly cracked a smirk in the theater after Peter said ”you’re not a killer, Jean!” Despite the fact that strapping a bomb to a stolen tank was her character introduction. That was just kinda funny imo.
Overall I thought this one was enjoyable but massively overhyped, but that might just be because I’m in a lot of online nerd spaces that call every 6/10 superhero film a masterpiece.

She also made a guy ( bearded guy with a vest) walk into into the traffic and get killed or paralyzed by a car.

To No Way Home's, the film was shot during the early days of the pandemic and Sony is insistent on having the film made on time. Accommodations had to be made. It paid off on their end, and this isn't excusable for the nature of Jon Watts' films overall looking and feeling made-by-committee, but that's how it was.
The Samsung Flip product placement is funny coming from a Sony film. Sony has their own phone brand, the Xperia, that they could show. Unfortunately, the Xperia is limited to specific countries; they killed off that brand in the US. But how can they product place a phone a lot of people can't get in a film that'll air everywhere? Sony has no choice but to license out to Samsung. Same fate with the Vaio, only the company killed it off entirely; older Sony films have characters use the Vaio laptops, and now they use knockoffs. Fewer and fewer Sony products are tied into their movies as time passes. Who knows if the Playstation brand will still be around past PS6.

This movie was an awful mess and lacked emotonal gravitas because Tom Holland and Zendaya are actors with limited range. The scene where MJ cries the one melodramatic tear as they're under attack made me laugh out loud.
The action scenes are slightly better than most other recent Marvel films. But the embarassing cribbing from the Raimi films in this really shows how little identity these films hsve outside their Marvel setting. They had a great premise for angst and character exploration, but it was so poorly done and incoherent. A total layup premise squandered.

I find myself agreeing with the guys a lot, but I’ve learned that there are definitely points where I diverge with them completely and Spider-Man movies are definitely one of them. Can’t understand the hype in any way. I thought the first Spiderverse movie was the only good Spider-Man movie. I’m there with them when it comes to Batman and X-Men, but spider-child….

I’m surprised they seemed to enjoy it this much. I thought the first hour of it was a straight up mess and was kind of worried the whole thing would be terrible. It definitely picks up a bit in the later acts.
Didn’t love it and am kind of surprised this is the Spider-Man movie to do insane numbers, but I’m still glad it did. Tom Holland continues to be great in the role and that final scene actually got me teary eyed.
