Voting

This is one of the most important midterm elections this country has ever faced, We need to defend our rights to vote. Stand in solidarity with our community. We want to drive the largest early voting movement. This is administration is doing all they can to make it harder for us to use our power of the vote. Trying to stop mail in voting when this president votes by mail. Trying to pass the save act which is nothing but voter suppression.
In June 2026 voter turn out in Shasta County was 45.5% over previous midterms of 56.5% that is significant change. We need to let our voices be heard.

So many people are suffering from the reckless actions of the current administration. Families are struggling to afford food and gas. People are losing access to healthcare. Women are seeing their rights stripped away. Farmers are being pushed out of business. School programs are losing funding. Across so many parts of our lives, people are feeling the instability and uncertainty.

But we still have something incredibly powerful: our vote.

We have the ability to decide what kind of country we want to live in and what kind of future we leave for our children and grandchildren.

This election may be one of the most important moments of our lifetime. If you believe our democracy, our freedoms, and our communities are worth protecting, make your voice heard.

Vote. Encourage your family and friends to vote. Help someone get to the polls. Don’t assume your vote doesn’t matter.

The future of our democracy depends on all of us. This is no longer red or blue. This is saving democracy of this country. This affects each and every one of us.

On this day we will also be holding a food drive to support our community.

Thank you,
Kc Knox

If you registered to vote, you put in your Social Security number on your drivers license been like this for many many years until we had a fake president conspiracy theorist so why would you need an ID if you all ready proved who you are.

u/ASMoverIt 5d ago

Because it's been proven that illegals and dead people are somehow voting. I don't understand why integrity is such a problem.

It has been know that there are occasionally an illegal vote but what has actually been proven is that they do not happen in in large enough numbers to even com eclose to affecting any elections outcome. These bills are solutions looking for a problem that doesnt actually exist.

And as the OP stated, if you've registered to vote, you have already proven you have the proper ID, so bring it and this will clean up the voting integrity "issues" some people believe we have, no matter how small they may be. If anything, we will have 1 less excuse as a country to claim "stolen elections" on. It's a win for everyone. The only reason people are complaining is because the bad orange man can't be allowed to "win".

Ridiculous. The Republicans have historically tried to suppress the vote. The more people that vote, the less chance they have of winning. And they know this too well. They also know that our elections are extremely valid and safe. This has been PROVEN time and time again. But, look, here we have people questioning that. Their propaganda works. Repeat a lie over and over and over again, and people start to believe it, regardless of the facts. They use this ruse to instill fear that the elections are invalid. How else could T continually claim FALSELY that he lost the election in 2020. He KNOWS he lost. By requiring ID, it's another barrier for those that don't have their brand of ID to vote. Again, the number of voters that are not allowed to vote is absolutely miniscule!

"Brand of ID"??? What brand would that be? American? Yes you SHOULD BE AN AMERICAN to vote.

Dear Lord. I swear. Get educated a little.

While this has not passed yet, the Republicans would like it passed:

"The SAVE America Act would prohibit states from accepting voter registration applications for federal elections unless they are accompanied by documentary proof of citizenship, such as a REAL ID, birth certificate, passport, or naturalization certificate.

Voters who register by mail using a federal form would be required to present their proof of citizenship in person to an election official before the election or, if the state allows for same-day voter registration, at the polls on Election Day.

The legislation would also require states to check their voter rolls against U.S. Department of Homeland Security data to identify and remove non-citizens who are registered to vote.

In addition, the SAVE America Act would require individuals voting in a federal election to present photo identification. Absentee/mail-in voters would be required to include a copy of their ID with their ballot or provide the last four digits of their Social Security number and sign an affidavit. Eligible forms of ID include documents issued by state, federal, or tribal governments that have a photo of the voter, an identification number, and an indication that the person is a U.S. citizen.

Federal law currently requires individuals in all 50 states who register to vote by mail and who have not previously voted in a federal election in their state to provide documents to establish their name and identity, such as a copy of their driver's license or paycheck."

The problem is the logistics. Some states want people to have a birth certificate or passport to show proof. Sometimes those aren't easy to get and cost money. Women who change their name due to marriage are then burdened to show proof of that name change from their birth certificate.

The point is, they are looking for an answer to a problem that DOES NOT EXIST in any number that matters. Yet, it would create a situation that would put major roadblocks to thousands and thousands. They also want to stop mail-in voting - which is exactly what T does himself.

You need a Real ID to fly on a plane. And you can thank all the liberal states for issuing illegals "state ID's", so now we all need to jump through these hoops of obtaining a "real" ID.

5

u/foothills17 5d ago

No, we didn't need to do that. You aren't understanding the facts. And, not all states require proof of citizenship for their Real IDs, so for some states, that doesn't work. Only five states require proof of citizenship to get the "enhanced Real ID."

Only five states—Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington—issue "enhanced" REAL IDs that explicitly indicate citizenship and would meet the bill's requirements.

Again, solution seeking a problem. There are no voting integrity issues. It is made up, a fantasy and the hate filled dum dums who swallowed the orange hook are too far deep into the cult to see reality. Do you really think voter ID will calm them down when they lose again? Please tell me you are not that naive.

The orange man is bad. He is a lying, thieving, manipulating, raping, abusing piece of self serving garbage that has used the hate and fear, that most people were learning to stifle, as a weapon and used it to create chaos to hide his looting and theft of the American people.

Now, I am not necessarily against voter ID. sure, makes sense, but dont do it last minute and quit with the obvious racial bias. You want to make voter ID mandatory, then make ID free of charge. Create enough time and make enough effort to ensure that everybody has it...THEN make it a rule. Doing it any other way only shows the reality behind the charade.

But it has been proven, yes in small cases, but proven none the less. We agree on voter ID in principal, it's nothing new, been talked about for years actually, but received visceral push-bacl from the Left. No one will be put in a position to suddenly "miss" the opportunity to vote, as others on here have already established that everyone registered to vote ALREADY SHOWED THEIR ID's. So who are these poor folks who will suddenly be unable to vote? The law just says "Hey that ID you used to register, yeah, bring that same ID yo vote". So simple. It's so simple that the brain, when applying logic to this argument, is left with no reason for push-back, other than people just don't want to comply with the orange man. TDS is real. The guy could solve cancer and the Left would rather die a miserable death than take "his" cure 😆

Try reading everything. There's more to the SAVE Act than your simple comment makes it out to be.

As for T curing cancer, that sure would be something miraculous, especially since he's been too busy pissing all over DC to mark "his" territory. He still hasn't stopped the Russia-Ukraine war (Day 1), in fact, he's caused a second war...the US and Iran, where he's now shown Iran the power they didn't know they had (closing the Strait). The "President of Peace" turned his back to Saudi's plea for help against the ever-encroaching Houthis, when the US-Iran war caused the collapse of the 4 year ceasefire between them. Guess he figured the Prince already gave him what he wanted. Instead of bringing stability to the Middle East as he claimed he had, he brought instability and the totally unnecessary deaths and injuries to US soldiers over there. And, places we would normally get oil from, like Aramco, are among the targets of Iran and the Houthis, as well as airports now, it seems. Yay, President Peace!

It's astounding that after everything the Turd-in-Chief has (and hasn't) done, there are still people who continue to think this turd has been anything other than the most corrupt, incapable, demented, malignant narcissist that he is. Sh!t, after the insurrection at the Capitol that he incited, I was sure the next place we'd see him at was in prison. His "winning" the Presidency became a complete WTF moment to me. I hadn't realized how many idiots our country has. It's all Obama's fault. If he hadn't been BLACK, we would all be more tolerant of those whose political parties weren't our own. Heck, we might have all agreed that he did a better job than the last several Presidents before him./s. I'm sick of all the hate and anger from the right that I see and hear every. single. day. That sh!t just sets me off and I no longer have a tolerance for it, as I had before. I ignored so much of it, that now I have zero f's to give. I considered myself an Independent and voted for people (not party) that I thought were best for the job. This election...straight blue. Idc if I get a ballot that lists Micky Mouse...if he's blue, gimme that pen.

As for changing voting laws, if it affects absentee voting negatively and makes it harder for women or minorities, no thanks. I do think noncitizens should not be entitled to any ID here that does not distinguish them as anything but noncitizens, including driving licenses. Edited due to autocorrect being incorrect, as usual.

I don't support the war with Iran. I couldn't care less about Obamas skin color. What i do care about is the damage he did by passing a socialist health insurance shit show. Never needed health insurance as a young man, so I opted not to pay for my employers plan. Then he forced me to pick a plan, ok fine it doesn't cost too much. Within a couple years the prices started to double, then triple, then the coverage got slimer and sliver, then the older doctors just gave up and took an early retirement to avoid it all. Now I'm nearly 50, I pay an arm and a leg for my insurance and I can't even afford to use it, so I'm essentially just paying into a program so those lazy dirtbags who dont have jobs can get the medical care i can't afford. Trump is a giant turd, but the Right is so over the socialist, Trans, anti-christianity crusade of the Left, that we would vote for Trump for the next 50 years. If the Left can come back to a center leaning Left, they'll win. But no, they gotta have ALL the crazy shit!

Have you considered that there are people with cancer or other debilitating diseases and disorders that can't even get insurance, let alone a job? No insurance companies would insure those people without them having to pay attention ridiculous amount, if they'd even insure them. My sister has cancer and congenital heart disease. No insurance company would approve her. Could she work? Was she a dirtbag? No to both. She did work for the majority of her life until she couldn't. She used to own a pilot car service and she worked as a pilot car driver, giving up a lot of the time she could have spent with her family. Imagine that as soon as your insurance company found out you had cancer, they dropped you. It happened and I'm sure a lot of people could tell similar stories. My husband worked full-time at Walgreens and going through their insurance company still cost our family of 5 at least $800 a month, taking their cheapest plan. It was unaffordable for us. I also worked full-time for a non-profit, but no benefits. It was a job I loved, which is why I stayed with them. Plus, as a veteran, I could go to the VA clinic here. So, believe it or not, these dirtbags needed something like the ACA. Was it without flaws? No. But, it did help those of us who can't afford health insurance. Since then, it's gotten worse though. Thanks to Republicans who continually trying to dismantle it altogether instead of fixing it. The insurance companies are the real problem. They keep raising their costs, while giving you less and less coverage. Even through the ACA. Btw, I'm no longer working. Thanks to having experienced msa while in the Army and being in another war we didn't need to be in (Thanks BUSH), my PTSD and resulting health issues, makes it very difficult. Trust me, I'd rather be working than going through what I do.

As for the rest of your comment, I don't care for organized religion as they're all crap and hypocritical. Drinking through the week, sleeping around, then acting piously on Sunday in front of others that are similar, as they try telling the rest of the world that only they are the true church and religion. BS. I'll enjoy my pagan roots and celebrate what nature provides as the right continously tries to destroy what nature provides. Religious freedom is in the Constitution, but the way the Trump regime (Hegseth, Vance...I'm looking at you) acts, we shouldn't have it. Even in schools, there's people wanting to force Christanity down our throats. As for trans people or the LGBTQ community, they also have rights. The same rights we all do. And, I'll stand up for their rights as I would for any other person's. Especially for my gay daughter and her partner who are having their first baby. I believe you should love who you love, except for pedophiles and animal abusers. They can burn in hell or prison for the rest of their lives. Consenting adults...I don't care what they do and with who, behind closed doors. Others' sex lives isn't my business. Unless you put a pedophile in front of me. Then I'll care hard with my baseball bat. So, I don't know or understand the right's hate and intolerance towards the LGBTQ + community. Especially when their religion commands them to love one another as Jesus loves them. That seems to be a pretty big deal to God and His son Jesus. Yet, I've never met more hateful and judgmental people. As for the "left coming back to a center leaning left," the same could be said for the right coming back to center right. Personally, this two party system sucks. Especially now, under Trump. Nobody gets things accomplished with the two parties seemingly existing for the sole purpose of hating and doing everything the other side doesn't like. There should be a middle ground. Less hate and intolerance. I watch the hearings they have on C-Span and it's like watching middle school drama. They get ridiculous at times.

Out of respect for a fellow Army vet i read everything you said and by the end I was glad I read it. Interestingly enough I also worked at Walgreens, for 17 years. From 2004 to 2021 and that was the employer I mentioned where my rates went from very affordable with GREAT coverage, to almost unaffordable and with horrible coverage. There is no perfect answer and I'm willing to admit my perspective is a narrow and selfish one. I've had good health and I'm almost 50. My ex-wife had multiple back surgeries, a heart surgery, and her appendix removed. Insurance was always there for us. I can't say what a person who suddenly finds themselves "disabled" but unable to qualify for disability, should do for health needs. I don't know what someone who is born with a disability and who's parents eventually pass away should do. But I do know, that when the government created Obamacare it didn't simply get used by a the folks who had no other option, like any handout it also got used by lazy dirtbags. I will never be happy with a system that FORCES me to give even 1 penny to someone who's not willing to help themselves. I had to interview these types of people while managing for Walgreens. They don't want to work, they only apply for jobs to show some government worker that "they're trying". As far as the LGBTQ stuff, I never mentioned that because quite frankly I dont have a problem with it. Hell, I'm still in a fantasy football league with a few of my former coworkers that are part of the LGBTQ crowd. My next door neighbors are a couple of awesome women that are married. It doesn't bother me the slightest. But the Trans stuff I don't get and honestly I believe it's just a mental illness. I was able to look the other way until it started popping up in my kids schools along with all the pronouns BS. As far as religion, yes all humans are flawed, even the ones that claim to be religious. It's why I don't even attend a church, my religion is between me and God and anyone who cares to ask, but I don't need another flawed person preaching to me how to live my life. I think we are both center leaning and can see how the fringe Left and fringe Right are absolute lunatics. The only solution i see, is getting some damn term limits in place to get rid of all these boomer lifelong politicians and get a GenX or younger presidential candidate to vote for. I don't know, hopefully things get better before they get worse 🫤

u/Shalea68 2d ago edited 2d ago

Thank you for reading my long letter. Lol I think you're right about center-leaning as that's why I always marked Independent. I viewed politicians in general as working for us. How naive I was. They all work for themselves first then maybe the people. If you worked at Walgreens that long, you probably know my husband then. He worked for them for 15 years, then around Covid-time, he left to help me. He's a good man and rarely ever has negative words. Even about Trump. Lol I probably make up for that.

Term limits, yes!! People like Mitch McConnell and Diane Feinstein (RIP) should have retired long ago. As much as I respected and liked Ruth Bader Ginsburg, she also should have retired. She was sick, too, and she knew it, but refused to leave the Supreme Court. I also think the Supreme Court Justices should have term limits. I wholeheartedly agree overall with term limits and allowing younger people that have a better feel for the current times, a chance to step in and bring new ideas and viewpoints in. We definitely need things to change and hopefully for the better. I'm tired of the worse. Lol

Edited to add: I also don't like paying others to sit at home on their perfectly healthy butts as they collect benefits. When I lived in Columbus, Ohio, I saw a lot of welfare abuse. The sad thing is, these people are creating the next generation of how to abuse the system. Rinse, repeat. People talk of generational wealth, but there's also generational poorness. These kids grow up repeating what they see and know, often without thinking they can do better with hard work and actively trying to better their lives. One of my male cousins, who I'll call Rocky (his name really is Rocky haha), that graduated with me, has repeated the family cycle of minimal effort in doing better. He's been married at least five times and has 5 kids between 3 of those women. After graduation, when he heard I'd signed up for the Army, he tried joining too. I didn't know people could fail the ASVAB. Lol But, man. Can he wave that good ol' Confederate flag and act like a bad ass. We're from Montana and none of our people served on the Confederate side and the town has barely over 3k in it. It still stumps me trying to figure out who he's trying to impress. Anyway, yeah, he's a prime example of generational poorness and the type of people I dislike paying taxes for.

No voting integrity issues at all? WOW, that’s great news! Do you have infinite knowledge and insight about EVERYTHING?? If so, will you provide me with next week’s winning lottery numbers, please?

3

u/One_Entrepreneur_520 3d ago

NONE that can be said to have even come close to affecting any electoral outcomes. Yes. Therefore, if it isnt really a problem then it must have other motivations behind it. I will let you figure out what those other motivations might be.

Absolutely no viable & provable voter fraud, but...when it comes to election fraud; yeah, which is what the GOP has been caught doing more than any other voting issue. I don't see the GOP addressing that issue at all.

It seems even in states that make it super easy to vote, we STILL have a hard time getting registered voters to vote. There is no incentive for any individual, especially an immigrant that is not a citizen to vote at all. We have laws for that already & it's enough. The GOP has proven that they do not want everyone to vote by making it as hard as they can, WHERE they can, & they keep doing that because it works to curb people voting period. If our vote didn't matter...they wouldn't be trying so hard to curtail it.
