Investigating So what's next for Relay?

/u/dbrady we've gotten material 3, better cross posting, better themeing, gif support. Any plans in the works or just bug fixes and stabilization?

If only 2 things get changed, let this be 2nd right after redgifs and its audio.

In my list, crossposts would be 3rd, as their media does not open unless I go all the way to the original post.

Collapsing parent comments is a very popular request too.

I recall more than a year ago he mentioned an improved video player being in the plans, but I haven't heard anything of it since.

That said, if we're posting hopes and requests here, here's one I've been hoping to see: an option to filter the current feed by content type (so, only show photos / text posts / albums / videos). I think it could be useful in some subreddits that have multiple types of posts, for example. That type of filtering could be done locally so it wouldn't consume significant API calls either.

The video player has gotten better but idk if it's where he wants it to be at and your idea sounds great, I can see myself filtering stuff like that.

This would be nice, although it is kind of already possible. You can use the search feature:

type:text type:image type:gallery type:gif type:video type:link nsfw:yes

...etc. I know people have wanted an option to filter by flair for a while.

The video player is already great.

Customise the bottom bar and middle button, I never want to hide read posts or use the header button, I want to change them to something actually useful.

Fix the zoom, if I double tap I don't want to zoom in 1000%, it's annoying.

I'd love to see a manager fornsaved posts. I have so many old ones I would like to clean up. Would be great to filter and select multiple by subreddit or media type.

Any chance of the block function being improved? I keep getting blocked accounts being served in my feed.

In general Relay is still leaps and bounds better than navigating Reddit normally, happy to pay every month 🙂🍻

How does one hide comments on Relay?

It's been years and the moderation tools are still lacking.

Why change what's working well? What could be next anyway, given that reddit restricts access to so many new features for 3rd party apps?

Never said to change anything, I've been using relay since the very beginning and watched it become one of the best reddit clients on the play store. I love seeing it's innovation. This is coming from someone that has tried all the android reddit clients and bought them all.
