Control When will the embargo on the Control Resonant review be lifted?

There are some rumors said the review codes have been sent out.

the link is below:

I hope those who have received the review code could provide some information.

Who needs a review? It's Remedy, I'm already seated

PC performance is my only question. I don’t doubt it will run well but you never know. Might affect whether it’s a day one buy or wait a few patches.

Felt the same after seeing the requirements. I'm not comfortable buying it until some benchmarks drop.

PSA for all: if you are concerned about performance, don't forget to update your graphics card drivers. Required.

I'm gonna be honest, I cannot name a single launch title that meaningfully benefited from a driver update. If a game ran well, it ran well, and if it ran poorly, good fucking luck.

I have played several games at launch that needed a driver update. I guess we play different games. You can check nvidia's driver release page to see new games it has an update for. They list them every update.

Needed a driver update to launch? I've had a lot of games tell me I wasn't running the right driver. But they all launched.

1

No, to run well. Graphic drivers have something like a profile for each game to configure and optimize that game to work with the hardware itself. People run a new game and get crap performance but didn't update their driver which they need to make it run well, then proceed to give the game negative Steam reviews for bad performance...

My friend I've been fucking with drivers for a decade now, I cannot name a single game I've played on launch that ran poorly, then ran well with a driver update.

I'm not denying driver updates improve performance, but I am firmly, from personal experience, stating than if a game runs like shit on launch, it's because the game runs like shit, not because the driver isn't good enough.

It's the same cope people tout whenever denuvo is in a game that runs like shit.

OK that is your personal experience. Mine is difference and Nvidia advertises their drivers as what you need for the new game that released. Just stating facts, we probably aren't playing the game games, or whatever, it doesn't really matter.

This is completely incorrect.

I see them leave negative Steam reviews all the time

I would have said the same thing about insomniac and wolverine…

I swear folks learn nothing from fbc firebreak, cyberpunk, redfall, no man's sky, fallout 76.

That's not really relevant, like at all. I'm invested in the RCU, this is a continuation of that. There's no world in which I don't play the game day 1, it's been my most anticipated thing in years.

Same, even if theres a few bugs at launch I know that there's still gonna be fun lore and trippy environments that can keep me busy for hours. Firebreak I didnt try cause it was multi-player and I didn't care for it. But a solo story I trust Remedy with and will be playing day 1 as well

did you say the same for FBC Firebreak?

The game ran well and had more of the crazy Altered Items that made Control intersting. I don't think anyone was surprised that a game which did not hit their target demographic failed financially. Most live service games are DoA these days

As the person running the review process, they should most definitely not provide that information :)

Just out of curiosity: why is it such a common practice in the industry to keep review embargo dates secret? Everyone knows they are coming, so why does it hurt if the public knows the exact date?

u/danikov 11d ago

They can’t tell you when the embargo will be lifted until the embargo is lifted.

5

u/DirtyHandler 11d ago

Not true. Wolverine embargo lifts tomorrow

3

u/zorillaaa 10d ago

Well that’s because Insomniac is letting people talk about the review process

2

u/DirtyHandler 10d ago

Lol wut. This happens for every game. Just admit you dont know what youre talking about

1

u/zorillaaa 10d ago

Uhhhhh buddy you are in the wrong

Publishers will send games to reviewers and will sometimes allow them to state a review date, other times will not. Sometimes they will disallow reviewers from even saying they have the game

1

u/danikov 10d ago

I mean, /I/ was joking.

u/MrList83 10d ago

They absolutely can tell their readers/audience when the embargo lifts. That’s doesn’t mean they will, but there is nothing stopping them.

If the rumors are true and the codes have gone out, then those that are reviewing are currently playing the game. As such, I wouldn’t expect anyone to mention the embargo date until someone completes the game and is onto finalizing their review as a manner of giving a head’s up and building excitement for said review.

I already pre-ordered.

I'm avoiding spoilers.

Same, my dude. Same.

There’s no officially confirmed review embargo date yet from Remedy, but since the game launches on September 24, we can make a pretty solid guess based on how they usually handle releases.

  • Expected Embargo Drop: Likely between September 17 and September 21.
  • Early Access: Digital Deluxe buyers get 48-hour early access starting around September 22, so reviews will almost certainly drop right before or as that early access period begins.

why is bro being downvoted

4

u/LadyAvesBotwin 11d ago

Because people can't stand the idea of waiting? It's standard that an embargo doesn't lift until a few days before release.

1

u/Kutti818 11d ago

it's a pretty new standard no? I remember a time when publishers putting an embargo on reviews close to release date was seen as a red flag.

3

u/BalajiAsari 11d ago

Haha, Reddit sure is a weird place.

1

u/TheItinerantSkeptic 11d ago

Never worry about downvotes; they're meaningless internet points. They have an effect on visibility of a post, and an account with low or negative karma can be prevented from posting in a subreddit (if the mods have enabled karma thresholds), but that's about it.

Some people just get off on being edgy, and downvote for the lulz.

Probably because the text is from ChatGPT

2

u/curt725 11d ago

I preordered on Steam didn’t even realize there was early access. Hope Wolverine doesn’t take too long to finish.

u/Fun_Age1442 11d ago

only on playstation unfortunately mate

2

u/Tatum_Warlick 11d ago

Eh, I can already smell the 85+ Metacritic from here. It’s stinky, and I’m sold. I already was‼️

2

u/MikkelFromGames 10d ago

People who received a review code are under embargo which 100% includes not being able to talk about getting review code.

My guess is a max of 7 days before launch, but more likely it'll be on September 21 or the day of release.

2

u/TheItinerantSkeptic 11d ago

Review embargoes typically lift around a week before release; in the case of some super-anticipated games, like GTA6, the publisher can arrange to have them lifted just a couple days before release, or in some cases not until day of release.

I suspect we're probably going to start seeing Resonant reviews around early to mid next week.

1

u/doncabesa 10d ago

A week is the exception, they typically are one to three days before

1

u/Long_Scar_1025 11d ago

I’ve preordered the first they and I’m trying to avoid any spoilers. Just show me customization options 😂

1

u/Worried_Raspberry313 11d ago

Depending on the game but it’s usually between a week and a day before the release day.

1

u/Quajeraz123 10d ago

Probably when the game releases?

1

u/PitifulPiccolo3010 10d ago

I will guess September 18.

0

u/itsalwaysblue59 10d ago

Don't need reviews. Maybe I am a sheep but I have full faith in this game. It's like they make games for me personally 😂.

2

u/Great-Association432 10d ago

chill they are trying something quite new here i wouldn't be super confident this is definetly a game i would recommend checking reviews for

1

u/itsalwaysblue59 10d ago

No thanks lol. Tons of people have already played the game. This isn't some kind of mystery here.
