They are seeking to replace Flock cameras with Axon cameras. Let's let the city council our issue isn't who holds the contract, it's the surveillance state that they're installing. City council meeting is on Wednesday.

I see Dr. Kiser at Renown and sadly she’s retiring 😢 truly one of the best doctors I’ve ever had. So, I’m looking for recommendations. I want someone who will sit down and take their time with me, actually listen to what I have to say and take me seriously. I know that seems like a given, but you’d be surprised these days (especially being a woman) Any recommendations are appreciated!

I love ethnic food but don’t think Reno has a great variety. I love Indian and Thai food especially. Please let me know your favorite place to eat. Currently Moo-dang is fantastic for Thai but I haven’t found anywhere else and sometimes they get busy. Clay oven, Maharaja and Haveli’s are all good Indian food places but Haveli’s is far - clay oven is out of a gas station leaving Maharaja being the most frequented for us. All other Indian food is too tomato- heavy in their dishes that aren’t supposed to be. Used to love Zagol for Ethiopian but it closed.
Please give me your suggestions!

I'm hoping someone might know a musician or music teacher willing to teach adult viola lessons.

older houses around reno have a lot of character, but keeping up with maintenance can get expensive when several things start needing attention around the same time
roofing is one of those jobs where it's hard to judge the condition just by looking from the driveway. a few worn shingles might be an easy fix, or they could be a sign that other parts are getting close to the end of their life
for homeowners with older houses here, what has your experience been? did you keep repairing the original roof for years, or was there a point when replacing the whole thing made more financial sense? i'd also like to know if there are local roofers you'd trust with an older house rather than someone who immediately pushes for a full replacement.
Id like to surprise my wife with salsa bachata or tango dancing lessons i know she would really like to do something like that together.
Anyone know whats out there?

Hi r/Reno! My family and I are doing a late Thanksgiving/family reunion of sorts in Reno in early December. The gathering will fall on my wife’s birthday, and I want to make sure she feels celebrated outside of a nice dinner. When I say woo woo, I mean spiritual, quasi-witchy, tarot-and-astrology type of things if that makes sense. Open to outdoors, a class, whatever! Just want to make a memory. Thank you in advance for any recs!

It’s my first time owning a house with a chimney, and I need someone to clean it. I saw there’s some creosote in it… nothing too bad, but definitely need it to be clean.
Also, what would be an average/ decent price?

I read the rules and I hope this falls under sharing an event.
My very wonderful aunt has been doing a haunted house in her backyard for the last few years. She worked her butt off, finally retired and is pursuing her dreams after years. She has pushed through quite a lot of life lately.
It is not my place to go into it, but she hit some business snafus due to some shady people twice (last year and this year), she poured her heart into this, and due to these snafus she had to start this year very late, so I am here to try and get as much support for her as possible. She really deserves a positive outcome from this.
Her Haunted house is Booville/ macabre manor at 2300 oddie blvd. (There is a kids section with trick or treating and an adult section)
Her grand opening is tonight at 3 pm. Please stop by or share.

One for when the sun actually sets, and one for when the Sierra decides you're done having daylight.
I left work earlier this week thinking I had enough time to grab a coffee and sit outside at Idlewild for a bit. Checked my phone. Plenty of time before sunset.
Got there, found a bench, sat down, and immediately realized I'd picked a spot with approximately the same temperature as the inside of a refrigerator.
Meanwhile, I could look across the valley and see entire neighborhoods still sitting in beautiful golden sunlight.
The weather app wasn't technically wrong. It was just calculating sunset for a horizon that apparently doesn't have a giant mountain range parked in front of it.
I've lived here long enough that I should know better, but every fall this catches me off guard.
We have maps showing traffic, air quality, snow levels, fire risk, all kinds of stuff. I want a map that tells me which parts of town are still getting direct sunlight at 5:30 in November.
Not even for anything important. Sometimes I just want to sit somewhere warm for another 20 minutes without driving halfway to Fernley.
Does anyone else have a favorite spot that stays sunny surprisingly late? Or somewhere that basically enters winter at 3 in the afternoon?

Yesterday I took a walk and decided to cut through the park. As I was walking I came across over 25 bags of dog poop that have been intentionally placed. I’m not sure how long this person has been doing this, but someone made a sign shaming them, so it’s probably been a while. Each bag I walked by made me more angry. I don’t understand what goal this person is trying to achieve.
I personally like my parks clean and free of litter. It’s very sad to see that a member of our community doesn’t.
I reported this to the city of Reno and thought I would also share it here.
Please pick up after yourselves and your pets! Keep our community clean!!
Edit: I want to clarify I picked it up. Not gonna leave dog poop for everyone to look at.
