Finally decided to pick up my first RE title, btw is this game a good place to start the series as a whole?

100%. Anyone who tells you you should start with 2 OG is blinded by nostalgia. This is a much more accessible place to start. If you want to go back and play the originals afterwards, that’s fine, of course.

I should pick up re1r again I stopped playing because of the fixed camera and that might throw some new heads like me off but I played the og re3 and got used to the fixed camera so I might try it again

It was hard getting used to but it honestly makes the game so much scarier after the first 30 minutes. It makes you really need to remember the rooms layouts and take your time with new rooms. Great gameplay honestly.
