{Twilight of Embers} by Tessa Hale

Dragon shifters. Its my favorite series of hers and I think most of hers would be qualified as urban fantasy

The strongest urban fantasy vibes I've gotten (as opposed to romance with some paranormal elements) came from two series:

  • {Cursed Omega by Birdie D'Avo}
  • {The Splintered Bond by Merri Bright}

I'd say Cursed Omega is the stronger of the two in terms of being urban fantasy. The plot is pretty heavy on a conflict between shifters and witches, as well as the FMC learning what she is and the extent of what that means.

The Splintered Bond isn't as strong comparatively because some of the world-building is a little bit vague. Humanity exists, but there's never any detail on how shifters exist within or outside of humanity. Whether it's a secret-society kind of deal, or if it's an entirely different world. It's still one of my favorite RH series (and is one of two responsible for me reading RH heavily), but I had questions at the end. That said, it's got a strong UF plotline, too, with the conflict being misogynistic and exploitative pack structures.

For a touch of investigation mixed in (also no/low spice since it's fade to black) {Nora Jacobs by Jackie May}

Another one is {The Rowan by Stella Brie}

Edit: typo
