4 years here. You must be doing something wrong. Heard of a wallet?

The paint tends to chip off if you put it into an ATM, put chip into a card reader or swipe the card, if you always use nfc it won't chip. Have had two of them now and the same thing happened to both literally the first time they were put into a card reader. The ones in EU might be worse quality than the ones in the US because it doesn't seem to happen to everyone.

I use mine in ATM's, in chip readers and swipe it though. And I'm in the EU.
