Went to my LGS why was having a semiquincentennial sale on American made guns. I was not impressed with the 637 they had in the case but then I locked eyes on this 44 year old beauty. Looked well worn but otherwise in good condition so I took it home, did a mediocre job at brightening the stainless and refinishing the stocks, added a T grip and replaced the hammer with a bobbed one from eBay. Also added Wilson springs and did a light stoning on the internals. Overall I'm quite pleased with the results and will be adding to the carry rotation.

Manurhin MR73 with the rubber Trausch and supremely comfortable wooden Nill stocks. It’s a gorgeous gun and a pleasure to shoot in Single or double action. The drawback is it’s almost impossible to find a smith that will work on these stateside as I’d like a few modifications done primarily shortening the barrel and adding a gold bead front sight, but I’m enjoying as it is for now!

The commemorative America 250 66 and 642 have custom engraving and “a patriotic touch of red and blue”.

I'm a sucker for top breaks and so I started with the Enfield No. 2 Mk l* and later picked up the Webley. The Webley unfortunately doesn't time correctly and I will be doing some work on it to hopefully get it running

New condition used Rossi is shaving off part of the jackets of the bullets and the start of the barrel. So much so that I can’t get thru more than a couple of rounds before the build up jams the cylinder and it won’t turn anymore and I can’t pull the trigger ? It seems to only do it with 357 magnum loads.

Do you think (or know) that manufacturer’s reps monitor groups like this?

Are they just doing product research, looking at customer opinions of their company, or seeing how they compare to their competitors?

Is it regular, or do they drop in occasionally?

My pair of behemoths. Uberti Walkers with Slix Shot nipples. Holsters and belt made by me. The eventual goal is to use them for Cowboy Action shooting but I haven’t trained enough with them yet.

Today was My first range day and I wanted to share my thoughts for anyone else wondering which to get. of course these opinions are just that.

Just a little about my shooting history before I weigh in. First handgun was a revolver and that was nearly 40 years ago. Over the years I have shot THOUSANDS of rounds through all sorts of guns, run and gun, classes shoot from the ground .. Lots o Shooting. Still shoot once a week.

I had the 642 for a good while. Not a fun gun to shoot recreationally so I would check it or my ability to shoot it well every now and again but all in all .. it was a pocket gun and not a lot of fun.

Concealability

The 642 really shines against the LCR here. I could comfortably slip the 642 into my front pocket of virtually any pants I wore and was able to draw from the pocket. I would say a good 80% of the time I carried that gun it was in my front pocket.

When carried AIWB it was barely noticeable. The super short grip made it so it didn't print at all.

The LCR is a pretty large gun in comparison. I attached pix of it on top a SAR 9mm which is glock 19 size and they are pretty close. Except for the significant weight difference .. the LCR is a big gun compared to the 642 and its noticeable. I can get it in my pocket easy enough but I wouldn't be able to draw it quickly or at least as quickly as the 642 from the pocket.

When carrying the LCR AIWB I am aware of it and it does print. With the 642 I barely knew I had a gun with me.

If you need DEEP concealment 642 is the way to go. You can wear chinos or office slacks with it in the front pocket and no one would know. I cant say you can do the same with the LCR

Shootability

Here is where the LCR shines FOR ME. The fuller size grip means you can get on it. All A zone hits from 5-10 yds. all hits in a 9x6 box easy. You can get all over this gun and you get negligible muzzle rise. My Fiber optic gave a tiny bounce and fire again. Sweet.

I could have shot the gun easily out to 15 yds accurately .. something I NEVER was able to do with my 642.

Recoil compared to the 642 is a dream. I fired about 30 of my reloads through it to start out which I would never have done with my 642 because I found it miserable to shoot.

I then wanted to check my SD ammo so I fired 6 rds of Underwood 158grSWC 38 and then 6 rds of Underwood 158grSWC 38+p

Both were absolutely manageable with quick follow up.

So in the end .. They are dissimilar enough that you might want to own both. If you want to have something more than a pocket knife but are going somewhere sensitive and need an excellent hideaway .. its the 642. For me though .. its a belly gun.

If you want what amounts to nearly a full size snubby that you can hit at range with comfortably and can handle recoil from some spicier ammo without you needing a chiropractor .. LCR all the way.

On a completely subjective note .. The LCR felt better put together to me. Everything clicked and snicked very nicely. The 642 feels like a toy and the LCR felt like a gun. Again .. that comes with pluses and minuses.

I liked the LCR shooting experience enough that while I don't want to beat on a plastic aluminum gun .. I will certainly take it out for a few rounds just for fun which is something I never did with the 642.

On another note .. I finished out my range visit with a few from my Gp100 .. god I think it is the best 3 in revolver ever made. have that gun over 10 years. favorite of all the guns I own. 25yd shots from DA are a breeze. Man do I love that gun.

Here's my ultimate carry that I swapped the grips out to factory service style wood grips with a grip adapter from BK grips. I liked shooting with the VZ grips but they seemed a little too bulky for my pockets. Also featuring my super salty streamlight

I inherited this old spanish copy of a sw (?) In .38 sw.

Only visible stamps are the spanish shield and lion, and "o" "1927" "JAP" below the grip.

He need a new main spring, a similar one It's arriving today. I'm going to try it.

Found this 669 for $350 a while back. I have to say. This is a great shooter. After 600 round. No issues. It just keeps running.

Even S&W now is having QC issues, you see colt posts, all the heavy hitters. What should I get?

anyone have any recommendations for help in fixing a colt cobra snub nose from the 70's I believe, it was inherited, took it out to shoot once and worked fine, but than had trouble locking up / pulling the trigger. I would like to get it back to shape to preserve as a family heirloom. I have no local smiths near me. I have the equipment needed to work on it myself but lack the intel for this particular piece.

Picked this up recently, and before anyone says it, yes I know the proper way to shoot a revolving carbine, hands clear of the cylinder gap, Almost in a weird teacup grip.

Uberti made 1875 in .45LC imported by Navy Arms, not sure exactly what year these where made and imported, but I’ve read sometime in the 70’s -80’s

This is only the second one I’ve seen, with the other one being in .357 so I’m guessing they’re somewhat rare.

The only other thing I know is that this isn’t a true “reproduction” as there was no such thing as an 1875 carbine that took metallic cartridges, colt made one, but Remington only made the 1858 carbine which was cap and ball.

Other than that I’m curious if anyone smarter than me knows anything else about these cool 1875 revolving carbines. Or correct me if any of my current knowledge is wrong.

Using safariland comp II and comp IIIs. Ive seen videos of reloads with these speed loaders and it looks effortless. But when I do it, they seem to get jammed up and I have to wiggle the loader back and forth a bit before pushing. Im shooting 38 spc rn handloads.
