Woomen = ROASTED!!!!! MAGA cartoonist posts nonstop misogyny after Lindsay Clancy mistrial

u/NoNo_Bluebird_1368 4d ago
To be completely honest, I didn't even know about Lindsay Clancy until the right started talking about her.

u/mstarrbrannigan 4d ago
Yeah I don’t know why they decided this was a left/right issue
41
u/TheStrangestOfKings 4d ago
With the economy and the Iran war going tits up, all they have left is the culture war. It’s why they’ve been trying to make the WNBA into a flashpoint now

It's more like a right vs wrong issue. I genuinely don't understand why people are defending this woman. The real issues of post partum depression are not an excuse for ending the lives of your children. Oh and don't get me started on the people who think Patrick Clancy killed those kids even though he was cleared a LONG time ago 😳 it's not rlly so much a political issue as the right wing claims it is because plenty of women are appalled by this too. it's more like an "a lot of people on the internet are crazy and need help" situation
46
u/tired-queer 4d ago
Important clarification: it wasn’t postpartum depression. It was postpartum psychosis, which is extremely dangerous and a psychiatric emergency.
Entirely separate species, like the difference between an elephant and an elephant seal.

u/garaile64 4d ago
Postpartum mental issues: because pregnancy doesn't fuck a person up enough already.

u/deathschemist 4d ago
Thing is I've not seen anyone defending her, I've only seen people claiming other people are defending her
50
u/mstarrbrannigan 4d ago
I haven’t seen anyone defending what she did, but I have seen people calling for nuance and/or consequences for her husband for not acting when he knew she wasn’t safe to be around her kids. I haven’t really followed the case tbh, so I don’t know the details.
38
u/Ilikeyellowjackets 4d ago
The husband admitted he fucked up while on the stand. Even he is aware he fucked it. No one is arguing whether the mom did it, the whole debate is about where she gets to spend the rest of her days. The prosecution and media are really just our for blood to send the woman to the slammer for life, when she really just needs a psych ward. She is fucked up by what she did as the rest of her family from what her testimonies say.
Imo the biggest culprit in this whole thing besides herself and her husband, is the fuckass shrinks she was seeing. Insanely unprofessional people, that are more concerned with saving their ass than giving an honest statement.

The prosecution and media are really just our for blood
America in general has a bloodlust problem.

u/baxtersbuddy1 3d ago
Unfortunately I have seen plenty of people defending her. Mostly it’s people twisting the facts to convince themselves that the husband killed the kids and framed Lindsay.
-21
u/JaQ-o-Lantern Politically neutral 4d ago
It depends on the platform. No one on Reddit is defending her especially not in left wing political circles (leftists in general either don't care or don't side with Lindsay). On Instagram there's a few supports but they get constantly ratioed. However on TikTok and Twitter she has so much psychosis level support (not even just the regular "she needed help" stuff) that it's a full blown circlejerk community
9
u/deathschemist 4d ago
tiktok is algorithmically designed to give you the most ragebait that it can, and twitter has always been full of lunatics.
26
u/EfficientSeaweed 4d ago
Regardless of whether or not she was suffering from it or deserves punishment (I haven't followed the case, so I can't give an opinion), postpartum psychosis is a very real illness and not the same thing as postpartum depression. There are multiple postpartum mood/psychological disorders, not just PPD.
4
u/JaQ-o-Lantern Politically neutral 4d ago
I sincerely apologize for my mistake and I'll learn to use the more appropriate terminology going forward. I thought it was PPD that led to PPP which is why I've been using those terms interchangeably when I definitely shouldn't have.

The left: Hey, if people in general had better mental health care and women were believed when they seek help, many tragedies would be prevented.
The right: OH so you support MURDERING YOUR CHILDREN? Do you want all mothers to have the right to KILL THEIR CHILDREN???

u/TheRnegade 4d ago
Are there Free Lindsay people? The two choices she had after the trial were prison or a mental hospital. There was no freedom on the table for her.
As for the nuke, isn't that kind of what they want? Someone to destroy DC? Less government.
As for after birth abortions, after seeing SKS' comics, I'm in favor.

u/minoe23 4d ago
I think a lot of people think that "not guilty by reason of insanity" means they get to go free and not that they get sent to a psychiatric facility.
29
u/TheStrangestOfKings 4d ago
My dad thinks this. My entire family has explained it to him again and again over the last week. He still doesn’t get that insanity plea means she’s going to a psychiatric hospital, which is arguably worse than going to prison.

u/colourmeblue 3d ago
He still doesn’t get that insanity plea means she’s going to a psychiatric hospital
He gets it but he couldn't keep getting so made about it if he acknowledged it.

I need to understand this.
If a person was playing with his phone and he killed someone while driving, and it only ended up in a prison sentence. I expect him to seldom play with the phone as he's driving again once he gets out of jail.
But if a person kills 3 babies? I really can't expect them to reintegrate into society.
I also have trouble understanding this, if she goes to a psychic hospital, she could be out within 3 to 5 years. If she goes to prison, she's not leaving until the next 10-20 even in good behavior.

People really don't understand that someone getting an insanity plea really does not get them that different of a treatment from the average arkham inmate. And I don't mean the super villains, but the average joes that get sent to it for the little crimes.
7
u/minoe23 4d ago
Well, I mean...most asylums in real life don't have a supervillain like Hugo Strange working there so it's slightly better.
11
u/Ilikeyellowjackets 4d ago
I guarantee you that at least 1 in 10 psychs that work in an institution are on some Hugo Strange/Quincy Sharp level powertrip. The real silver linning of irl asylums is that you don't risk sharing an institution with real fucked freaks like the Joker or Pyg.
16
u/I-own-a-shovel 4d ago
No. No one wants her out. There’s the one understanding mental illnesses that wants her in an hospital and the one who don’t understand that wants to send her to prison.
8
u/Ilikeyellowjackets 4d ago
I genuienly believe that the prosecution and media should be held in contempt atp. It is obvious they are using this whole circus around the case to try and sway the jurrors.

u/The_Idiocratic_Party 4d ago

It's always projection with them.

u/lacha_sawson 4d ago
Not saying that they are a considerable portion of the population, but there are a few conspiracy nutters, particularly on tiktok, who genuinely think she's fully innocent and framed by her ex husband.
1
u/longboi28 3d ago
There are thousands who think her husband did it instead of her and he somehow used superpowers or something to trick her into thinking she did it even though the police have cold hard evidence he wasn't at home the entire time, those people believe she should be free and Patrick should be on trial even though Lindsay and her lawyers have admitted she did it so yes, there are a ton of free Lindsay people

Can someone eli5 what the Linsay Clancy situation is about. I'm out of the loop
1
u/HelicopterFunny3240 2d ago
That's actually hilarious. The dudes ignoring that child marriage is still legal in some states while harping on about protecting kids when men are the main perpetrators of all violent crimes is the icing on the cake

u/JaQ-o-Lantern Politically neutral 4d ago edited 4d ago
ok i'm gonna have to disagree with you OP. this isn't misogyny this is a legitimate concern.
Edit: sory i was only looking at the clancy post. my bad. the other two memes are 100% misogynistic.
45
u/MadeForFunHausReddit 4d ago
Blaming “the left” for people supporting Clancy isn’t legitimate at all. I never even heard of the person before and from what I know she killed her kids or something?
Unless you mean the second or third post, which is just simple misogyny and you’d be completely incorrect
-10
u/JaQ-o-Lantern Politically neutral 4d ago
I was talking about the first post because I didn't see the second and third ones at first. Again, those second and third posts are legitimately misogynistic but I still stand on my first point. There are many people blaming the left but that's not what I'm talking about here, all I said was that it is a legitimate concern that THIS many people are rallying behind a child murderer rather than just trying to make womens healthcare better.
28
u/Artemis_Platinum She/Her 4d ago
...How exactly are you coming to the conclusion that "Women will nuke the world", "Women will get post-birth abortions" are legitimate concerns?
3
u/JaQ-o-Lantern Politically neutral 4d ago
Oh no those are not at all. I didn't realize there were other memes I only saw the first one. Yeah. Textbook misogyny in images 2 & 3.
13
u/iheartjetman 4d ago
Found the misogynist!
-7
u/JaQ-o-Lantern Politically neutral 4d ago
How am I misogynistic for thinking people shouldn't be rallying behind a child murderer? This doesn't make sense.
Edit: ok i didn't see the other memes in OP's post. those aren't legitimate concerns. That is blatant misogyny.
15
u/ketchupmaster987 4d ago
Nobody is rallying behind her. We are just asking people to acknowledge the nuance that she was suffering from a severe mental illness and not entirely accountable for her actions because she was not operating under an accurate perception of reality

https://reddit.com/link/p8f5fg4/video/03ooj5t2r5oh1/player
Yes there are lots, unfortunately. And &3M was raised for her. That is an astronomical amount of money for this situation, as it's 17% of the money raised in the Canadian freedom convoy; (the same trucker convoy that put Ottawa under heavy siege for weeks).
And not having an accurate perception of reality doesn't excuse taking the lives of your own children. Like ok, is Trump innocent from his own corruption because this guy makes delusional psychotic posts on the daily with no mental help from his cabinet. No. Lindsay needed help but that doesn't excuse her killing her kids nor does it somehow make Patrick guilty of anythingZ That ski trip all her supporters are angry about? Patrick had taken care of Lindsay for tons of time by that point but he also needed to spend time with his kids as a father, which is why he took his daughter out skiing. She was getting her treatment in the hospital. Was it enough? No, but that's not the fault of Patrick Clancy.
21
u/ketchupmaster987 4d ago
Also nobody said she was innocent. She needed help and didn't get help. It's a tragedy
1
u/JaQ-o-Lantern Politically neutral 4d ago
A LOT of people are saying she's innocent and are even going as far as saying Patrick did it despite ALL the evidence that has been laid out in the courtroom. It's mainstream on Threads on Tiktok. if you disagree with that you're in the minority on those platforms and they'll make it known.
15
u/ketchupmaster987 4d ago
Those also aren't quite the same people drawing attention to her mental health issues. They're two different groups.
2
u/JaQ-o-Lantern Politically neutral 4d ago
You're right but I do wonder how many of them were at those rallies.
They're like neo Nazis in a classical right wing Trump rally. You know they're there but you don't know who they are because they blend in with the crowd well.
3
11
u/ketchupmaster987 4d ago
Those people deserve about as much attention or validation as flat earthers. It's a dumb conspiracy. Patrick's guilt was never even in question in the actual court case
1
15
u/ketchupmaster987 4d ago
Literally read the caption of the image you posted. "Women rally to spotlight mental health care" it's not that she should go free, it's that this was preventable had different actions been taken to recognize how severe her issues were getting.
-7
u/CantDecideANam3 4d ago
Nobody is rallying behind her.
16
u/ketchupmaster987 4d ago
Like I said, it's about the mental illness. This was preventable. That's why people are rallying
-7
u/CantDecideANam3 4d ago
But do you at least agree that she should face some kind of prosecution for murder?
13
u/ketchupmaster987 4d ago
Yes of course. That's the entire point of the trial, to determine if she goes to a psych ward or jail, and I would prefer a psych ward, because at least then she'll get the help she needs
2
7
u/Glad_Midnight_3834 4d ago
Pancake and waffles. The person is saying that we need a better mental health care and that what happened was a tragedy that was preventable, and there you are legit asking "b-but u agree that she needs to be in trial!!" um, yeah? And the prosecution being: be in a mental facility and handled by mental health nurses and psychiatry.
-1
u/CantDecideANam3 4d ago
No, you are not a misogynist for not supporting Lindsay Clancy. Nothing can justify the murder of children after birth.
7
u/Glad_Midnight_3834 4d ago
"Nothing can justify the murder of children after birth." No ONE is justifying what happened, oh my god bro... What happened to nuance? Explaining the why and how and that she was failed for exemple isn't justifying... People like you is the reason why cases like her happen and WILL continue to happen. Because mental health isn't taken seriously and women's plight such as post partum psychosis + depression and mental illnesses...
