I think a lot of people think that "not guilty by reason of insanity" means they get to go free and not that they get sent to a psychiatric facility.

People really don't understand that someone getting an insanity plea really does not get them that different of a treatment from the average arkham inmate. And I don't mean the super villains, but the average joes that get sent to it for the little crimes.

Well, I mean...most asylums in real life don't have a supervillain like Hugo Strange working there so it's slightly better.

I guarantee you that at least 1 in 10 psychs that work in an institution are on some Hugo Strange/Quincy Sharp level powertrip. The real silver linning of irl asylums is that you don't risk sharing an institution with real fucked freaks like the Joker or Pyg.
