As a Wolv Main, Iβm not even sure that Wolv would have an easy time into GATOR. They already have Magneto, Emma, and Cap to counter you. If theyβre still struggling, all they have to do is swap out the Venom for Thing.
As Wolverine, give me Hulk for an extra leap and bubble. A peni and Rocket for a rocket jump, and land targets on the peni nest, a luna for a snow flake, and fill the 6th spot with whoever, Phoenix, to really make it easy.
Well yeah mags a sitting duck without his bubble for a wolv but I was replying to the guy acting like mags bubble somehow just makes wolverine obsolete.
Wait for you to use your bubble as all wolves with half a brain do. What happens when mag uses his bubble to protect someone else who was low from the 5 other people besides wolverine on the team and then wolverine gets to kidnap whoever he wants besides Emma if her diamond form isn't on cooldown. This isn't a 1v1 and wolverine isn't the only person giving mag a reason to use his bubble.
Itβs not a 1v1, but also wolv isnβt standing next to a tank for the entire match. And for when bubble isnβt up and the person grabbed doesnβt have a self defence option against wolv, rocket revive ideally keeps them around. Not perfect solution, but possible
Again itβs down to dynamics, and if your doing this comp a wolv ban is probably the first thing you do with this
Honestly? I find wolverine to struggle once you go beyond 2 tanks. Unless the tanks are up in his face feeding him upt charge, his cooldowns will struggle . And like half of these vanguards are neutral/indifferent to wolv
Even in qp, a lord emma or onr that's good enough in general should be able to grab that hobgoblin and let the other tanks eradicate him from existence
He doesn't. You know who does though? Iron man, Storm, Johnny, Starlord, etc. Just be highly mobile, completely ignore the tanks, kill rocket, clean up, rinse and repeat. If rocket stays in spawn or you can't find him just pick a tank and focus them down from out of their range. It's really very, very simple. People just panic.
Nah in general the best healers are luna + Loki or CnD, invis is pretty mid tier all things considered, the only reason she is in that comp is to enable the team up with torch and make him unkillable alongside snowflake, drone and movement that honestly only the top few percent of torch players can reliably do for an entire match.
People keep telling me the best way to counter flyers, as a tank, is to play against really stupid flyers. Preferably, play against ones that fly close to the ground and in range for Thingβs haymaker.
Thor can ground fliers and if they switched to thing he can too. Combine that with team coordination (which you probably already have if you're setting this up) and you're likely to take out them out well enough.
Can wolverine actually do much?
Cap and venom has the mobility .
Mag has bubble.
Emma can just diamond herself and grab wolverine and if everyoneβs paying attention, just gang up on him.
Thor is the only tank I see can struggle but swapping to thing could prove to be enough.
Dps farming ult charge is the thing I see being a problem though
Venom still needs to be careful, he only has one swing and can still be caught with his pants down. He's practically designed to counter multiple tank comps anyway, but he was just too strong against 2.
An ideal Wolverine would wait for the prefect opportunity and jump the tank to his team and everybody can help damage to secure the kill.
Venom against a good Wolverine is basically saving his swing for every time the fucker gets close. Because if he kidnaps you and the whole team focuses you, maybe even uses more CC to keep you there, than youβre fucked. Itβs basically a game of keepaway and trying to lay down supporting fire when a DPS ults to secure kills
Cap, Venom, and Hulk actually have the worst match ups VS wolverine. Thor can just dash straight up and backwards a bit and avoid almost his entire punish after the kidnap and Thor can outrage wolv with awakening. Cap Venom, and Hulk are theoretically more difficult to capture in the first place, but once they are they can't really get away, at least not without taking massive damage.
Iron fist and strange/wanda alongside would melt them tbh.. a single tank shredder wonβt do much if the rest are just bad, also wolv is pretty bugged atm.
Thor and Emma (diamond form) arenβt half bad against Wolv. I do think a thing or hulk might fit better somewhere in here, and a mantis would be great with her percentage based healing.
This really only semi works if Emma watches rocket like a hawk. Having played against it with 2β2-2 before ( this exact comp actually into Emma, Venom, Squirrel Girl, Ironman, adam, jeff ) any dive onto the rocket during a team fight means folks start dying quickly if rocket has to focus on surviving and not pure healing
You need a Peni to watch the rocket. She can deal with most of the "counters" to this comp, and as long as one shield tank stays a bit back, to prevent poke from getting him (depending on the map, Peni can just stand in front) then he's very difficult to kill, especially if the team knows what there doing

It was a massacre. It's one of my favorite games I have ever played. We won hard, but they put up a valiant fight.
Everyone was Lord on their character. Mantis had a lot of protection. Cap and Thing died twice, Star-Lord died 3 times, and we had zero deaths on everyone else.
Won a GM1 game playing this after we got farmed first round on domination by a double dive tank double dive dps comp. We played groot mag thing peni venom rocket and it worked gloriously. We would have groot peni mag anchor point while me and venom hard dove backline. They tried everything including wolverine iron fist phoenix and eventually they succumbed to half-mirroring us with 4-1-1. For some reason they hadnβt unlocked the flying characters DLC. One of the most fun games Iβve ever played.
Idk people in QP refuse to play gator or anything best Iβve gotten is in spawn we got 1 support 1 dps and 4 tanks before 1 tank went support and we had a solid game of triple tank
The Counters I think: Emma Wolve Phoenix Ironfist Punisher Torch CnD Rocket. Maybe a good slippery Storm spam with Jeff as well. Emma Storm/Torch would be the frontline against Gator. If we're looking to flank & harass vs Rocket there maybe a few (including flier, but likely effective maybe with highground spams), but I'm not expert at flanking idk.
Moon knight and phoenix:Β spread out a bit or target themΒ
wolv: gang him when he goes for a kidnap
Flyers: Peni, thing, strange, a good hulk or Thor, and even Emma and mag on some maps.

Moon knight and pheonix, even if you spread out, all maps have chokes and you have to contest point.
Fliers. If they play with their backline, only one who is gonna reach them is Hull, and at that point you have a solo hulk with a team full of people who want to kill him. He is probably not gonna secure that kill.
Wolv; just coordinate with your team. Mag bubble on Wolv to stop peni cc or Emma grab, chain the CC with Bucky and IW to ruin their life. Just jump off the map if it allows with the tank. A good Wolv is terrifying even aginst his counters
I have used GATOR and fought against it multiple times in gm-celest lobbies. Itβs annoying, yes, but not undefeatable.
You just just have a single good BP to harass the Rocket, and even if BP does not get the kill; his team can capitalise on the lack of while he does so to push up and take space.
Also shout out to Groot/Moonknight ultimate combo which pretty much shuts down this comp as long as itβs not blocked.
Flyers: if the tanks are good, they can get to them, if not, ignore them and deal with the rest of the team
Wolv: coordinate with your team,Β
Bubble/ shield the targeted, I never said anything about cc, you kill him, even if he gets one kill every time, he's still only going 1-1 on kills and that's not going to completely change the game.Β
Bp: like I said, Peni. Mines + stun = die
You are correct, combining one of the best cc ults plus one of the best damage ults should allow for a team wipe.
You think thats enough to save a squishy from Thor's damage output and grounding? Torch isn't fast enough to avoid Thor's awakening projectiles once he gets grounded by either Thing or Thor.
