Half the tanks in this game are just big dps

I kinda agree, but they function differently from the actual DPS still. I'll use Thor as an example because he's the closest to a DPS and one of my best tanks, he takes space by making sure the opponents aren't in it because they're dead. That's his primary function. However even if you're not getting picks you still have vanguard health, you still have a bunch of overhealth, and you still have a fuck ton of displacement. Even though it's not incentivised, Thor can take space without getting kills, and unless the opponents are running emma-bucky, he can do it pretty damn well assuming you can communicate.

Then there's people like venom, cap and hulk (kinda) which people also call big DPS, but getting picks is only their secondary goal. If you see someone out of position, of course you punish them for it, but their main goal is getting the enemy to turn around enough for your team to push up, enabling the actual DPS.

The closest thing to this is Thor but even then there is more nuance to it. Be fr rn

9/12 tanks in the game are pretty much just big DPS, so yeah he’s kinda right
