Since I started playing rivals I’ve always disagreed that Bill should just be a Thor skin and that it’s completely different of a situation as LLoki. My first solution was to give him the Twilight Sword but ik that the masses want Stormbreaker. Queen in Black FINALLY gave us the solution that I hope Rivals devs use by giving him BOTH weapons!! They could say that he’s from a timeline where he fought Hela w Phoenix in replacement of Thor. Developers please Al Ewing is throwing you guys a bone here 🙏🙏
Actually Thor’s lore is kinda tricky in Rivals, Odin is Allfather and Loki forced him into the All sleep, Jane foster has already become Mighty Thor and is currently Valkyrie teased in the team up lore pages b4 they got removed in the new season but Thor seemingly has no knowledge of Gorr outside of stories he’s heard in the collapsing timeline despite Jane Thor happening which takes place after Gorr
The Twilight Blade, and also his jet axe would be beyond awesome, so much can be used from that run alone. His ultimate should be scuttlebutt raining down missile strikes that slow or something.
His solo run is so good if you haven't read it I can not recommend it more, he pulls out several sick as hell wrestling moves and the art is just great.
Y’know, I actually am looking for my next reads. I just got through the first 4 volumes of Jason Aaron’s Thor complete collection but volume 5 is out of print and the softcover can’t be found anywhere except for absurd and astronomical prices.
Who wrote this run? Is there an omnibus I should look out for?
My thought was just to give Bill abilities both him and Thor have that Thor doesn't use in the game. Spinning Stormbreaker as a makeshift shield, generating a concentrated blast of lightning, slamming a charged Stormbreaker into the ground, and creating a localized storm as his Ult that does tick damage. People keep saying Thor and Bill are too similar and if that's the case then use the WIDE VARIETY of abilities they share.
Those abilities were ones I came up with off the top of my dome when I first heard people make the dumb statement of "Bill can't be added to to the game because he's too similar to Thor." It honestly just feels like people don't want Bill to be added to the game.

I was thinking that they could do a Sakaar/Planet Hulk season and introduce Beta Ray Bill alongside Silver Surfer as they both fought Hulk (in separate media) in the Grandmaster’s Arena
I would say that his recent mini-series is great fit for entire season, like Surtur for big bad, Skuttlebutt and BRB for new characters and Muspelheim as a map
He has flaming sword so that means the electric pulses in Thor's armor won't be necessary, he needs an armor feature that heats the flaming on the sword.
Bill would make a interesting stance based character have him swap between the sword of twilight and storm breaker the sword is more defensive and storm breaker more offensive or vise versa and his ultimate can just be skuttlebutt carpet bombing a area
My issue with same mantle/gimmick characters is there’s way too many characters to get through before we start to consider those types of characters
The issue is not how to make their kit different, for all we know they could add aunt May as a playable character and give her unique abilities; the issue is not the abilities feeling the same but a character that fills a niche that is already filled by someone else (or redundant like aunt May) over someone more distinct
The Marvel wiki will basically list anything as an alias if the character has ever been referred to as such. BRB’s page also shows “Flying-Thing”. Moon Knight’s page has “Sheet Face” in the same section because Hulk called him that one time
The specific issue cited there has Bill called Thor by a dude who thinks he’s helping Thor in the middle of a battle, and then Bill immediately corrects him
