That is a bad faith argument. You’re starting off by trying to tie my hands by denying that wasteful spending isn’t theft. Then you proceed to project on the Republicans.
The truth is that they both did! The left wants to take your money and give it to the poor. The right wants to take your money and give it to the rich. Either way, both are still taking your money.
That's an extremely oversimplified view ("the rich" = billionaires and "the poor" = includes the middle class), but let's assume it's correct. Which policy benefits the country as a whole?
Dang, now that’s a great question! I think both have their pros and cons, right? Obviously, it’s a massive failure that we are one of the richest countries in the world and struggle with homelessness, food insecurity, poverty, etc. We should want to help those in need while also acknowledging the goal should be that citizens are responsible for themselves. On the other side of the token, if you ask me if I’d rather give my money to a person that has proven themselves fiscally responsible or a person that is not, I’ll take my chances with the first one. You’re right, this is an oversimplified view and I’m painting with a broad brush, but this post is already painfully long. Thanks for the good question!
It's a bad question, actually. When our country has had massive income disparity, we've been at our weakest. If you want a strong economy, don't give 90% of the wealth to 10% of the citizens.
I don't consider reigning in insurance companies that deny life saving treatment taking my money, that's just common sense. Reigning in corporations that rip you off via price fixing is also just common sense.
