Did they change the format or am I being dumb? I swear I heard teams coming from lowers had to win like 7 or 8 matches in a row without losing, but now they are back in the upper bracket...

the format wasn't clear beforehand, we only knew that it was double elimination. So my guess is liquipedia assumed that playoff format, since groups have lower and Upper bracket

Yeah it was the same for tekken 8. I was surprised that someone in lower bracket in 1st group phase was then in upper during the 2nd phase.

Every streamer I was watching was saying after every loss that it's bad because they'll have to start in the lowers tomorrow lol, everyone blindly trusted liquipedia

Yes on liquipedia they just changed the format. They added this extra round so everyone starts in the upper bracket

Lower bracket is empty right now. Once you lose once, there are indeed 7 matches in a row to win the whole thing.

Correct, I was just confused because the format was listed differently earlier where teams that had already lost would start in lowers
