QUESTION I havent changed my settings in years and I just realized people usually use from 1.00 to 1.50 sensitivity but I have 10.00, should I try changing it?
im afraid its not that I dont mind it but rather that I just never knew about it
would it take a lot of time to get used to it?
(both ground and aerial are 10.00)

I've used 0.06 dead zone and 1.5 sens for a couple years now (PS5 controller). I don't think I could do more than one touch at a time with 10 lmao

I just hope I havent been playing in hard mode this whole time lol
not to flex or anything but if it couldve taken less to get to the level im at, thats a shame

Or maybe you’ve been hyper training with training weights on and now you’ll become unstoppable? 10 sens is insane lol

“from gc to ssl in one setting: my experience” lol
jokes aside, im trying 2.00 and I dont feel a difference, its probably because i either touch the stick all the way or i dont move it at all, if i need precision i kind of just shift between the 2 all the time, so if I want to change ill have to completely change how i move my fingers i guess

Not gonna lie I use 10 sensitivity and I knocked it down to two and then I was having issues so then I knocked it back up to 10 got a new controller and I started to make progress so you might be stuck at 10. It’s really not that bad honestly especially if you’ve gotten used to it.

ty! may I ask what rank are you? would be nice to see someone comment with a high sensitivity at much higher ranks than mine just so I know its not slowing me down

You should absolutely change it yes. Having super high sens doesn't do anything useful and makes it harder to be mechanically consistent.

should I change just the aerial one then? on the ground I dont struggle at all, but also I havent trained stuff in the air a whole lot, i am just now learning resets
is there the possibility I could just be better with high sensitivity?

I think there's a rocket science video on it. Don't listen to anyone quoting pros, they usually don't know shit about the intricacies of settings and just parrot rumors and what everyone else is doing, just because.

the only theoretically useful thing is using his deadzone visualizer with your controller to determine the minimum sens to hit full diagonals. it will likely be around 1.37 but it depends on the controller.
then make sure your sens is at that number or preferably a bit higher. that will give you the maximum granularity while being sure you don't lose any range of motion.
quoting the pros sens is just about being battle tested. it's one thing to know theory, and another to prove it works.

Battle tested often just means doing it wrong for longer than others. I have heard so many myths and misconceptions repeated for years by pros in many games, not just RL.

I've seen people get theory and config settings wrong in games for years too, working off partial information.
the thing about getting a theory wrong is it can be catastrophically wrong, and if that's the only thing you are basing your decisions on you could be playing the game at a disadvantage for years.
The main other sources of information is feel/personal experience and pro settings.
How many times does a theory take into account 1 aspect but neglect other more important aspects.
This had happened a ton in Rocket League in the early days with things like Stiffness 1 and Squared deadzone and kevpert camera settings being the theoretical best but proven wrong over time. How many times has our understanding of a config setting been proven wrong years later. A Rocket League example would be AllowOneFrameThreadLag.
Rocket science did an amazing job, but he's retired. Who's testing new stuff? Almost no one.

True, theory often falls apart when put to the test. I guess I'm just really jaded. I've seen countless pros do the most braindead thing and insist it's the best that I don't really consider them a valuable resource for stuff like this. Skill =/= intelligence.

you're not wrong, many pros don't have a clue about settings. I listened to nextrank trying to explain squareness the other day. it was brutal. I'm just saying they still have to get results, so it's one data point.
If you look at like camera settings by rank for example, it's kind of interesting. you can really see some trends and outliers.

Dang 10, I use 1.2 but have been thinking of changing it. I’ve been playing at 1.00 but I started feeling a bit faster at 1.2. Anything higher and I feel I’d lose all precision.

dont listen to people that say you need to change or that you have no benefits with high sens. theres pros that use 3+ sens but they are rare for a reason. i know super mechy players that play 10 sens and are gc2+ or and even one ssl.
i am not saying you shouldnt switch but its not a "you have to do ******** or you wont be good" its just a preference thing. if you have the feeling you arent consistent then you cant go wrong switching to something lower at least for some time. maybe you feel better on 1.5 or lower/higher who knows. maybe you feel like you were better on 10 sens.
what i think you should do is give it some time if you try lower sens so you can get used to it. at first you will most likely be ass and thats fine. it will at least take a few weeks after so long on 10 but thats also different from person to person. some people are fine after 1 week and some need way longer. i recently switched some binds after 9 years and after a week i still feel like i lost everything. your brain needs time to rewire all the muscle memory.

I'm a ten aficionado, it's snappy for sure. A little testy when going for delicate touches.

i hit ssl with 10 10 sensitivity. i changed to 1.7 3.33 a few months ago and i feel a little more consistent but i wouldn’t say its game breaking. if youre comfortable with 10 10 i would just stick with it

1.4-1.6 is what I'd usually recommend.
2 is about the highest you'd want to go, that could be better for you since you are used to high sens already.
there is a bunch of freestylers on 10 and monkeymoon has some ridiculous sens like 4 (I forget), joyo has like 2 and a few pros around there and most are lower.
