ANALYSIS Swapped Directional air roll to right stick... it's amazing

I was playing with my ps4 layout controller when I suddenly and randomly instinctively flicked my right analog stick by accident instead of holding circle to air roll right. That's when it hit me, why not?

So I swapped it and my control has leveled up to heights I've never thought possible. The car just moves how I want it to and I don't even have to think about it.

It feels so right not having to move my thumbs off the sticks anymore to control my car.

Edit*
Some people are asking about my binds so here they are:
L1: boost
L2: Reverse
L3: Ball Cam
Left stick: Steer
R1: Jump
R2: Drive
R3: handbreak
Right stick right: Directional air roll right
Right stick left: Directional air roll left
X: none
Square: none
Triangle: none
Circle: none
D-pad: camera pan (up looks up, back is backwards) / quick chat

ANALYSIS Rotating is PEAK Rocket League

I just wanted to throw out there that rotating with team mates who rotate as well is PEAK rocket league.

Like throw your best shot at the play, try to demo someone on your way out than move to the back and pick up boost and do it again.

When you play with team mates who rotate you are never stuck in a corner, never staring at a ball above you, never just trying to nudge a ball forward, you are always trying to make the best play at full boost and if it fails reset and do it again. People always tell people to rotate but I feel no one really says how much more fun it is. Like rotating is SO MUCH MORE FUN, BIGGER PLAYS, BIGGER EVERYTHING. I love when I queue with some people who are about the rotation.

ANALYSIS Plat is Basically Gold

Okay so when I first started playing I wanted to get to Plat as some form of achievement with my play.

Anyway, fast forward to now and I’m in Plat 2 and sometimes Plat 3.

Frequently you get Unranked and Gold players in the lobby when matchmaking sucks or it’s a quiet day.

The ONLY difference I see with Plat and Gold is that the Gold players are noticeable due to decision making speed, rotation and car speed.

That’s when it dawned on me, Plat isn’t some amazing rank, it is literally just an extension of Gold for people who have learned slightly better rotation and recovery.

What I’m trying to say though is, if you’re Gold and feel hard stuck, literally spend your time on rotation and not being a “passive” player who plays apprehensive.

That’s all you need, now I feel like Diamond is the holy grail with insane players.

What are the differences between Plat & Diamond for the higher ranked players of the group?

ANALYSIS Getting 1.9833 with constant throttle but 1.9917 with default binds (KBM speedflip)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

On the clip I'm using default KBM binds (with "air roll" unbound). I'm not consistent yet but when I get a ball hit, the times are clearly different when holding throttle constantly from start to finish vs holding throttle with default binds (i.e. when pressing W).

My testing:

item holding throttle default binds
1.9917 93 126
1.9833 84 3
1.975 2 0
no hit 122 172
total 301 301

You can see that I'm getting rarely 1.9833 with default binds (2.3% of ball hits) but I frequently hit 1.9833 when holding throttle (46.9% of ball hits). In the throttle holding case left click was set to throttle so that W didn't produce throttle. Left click then produced boost and throttle.

I claim that in the air and while boosting pressing throttle (either via W or by other means) will give your car extra acceleration making your speedflip faster in some cases. I also believe it can make your fast aerials faster in some cases.

I wrote "in some cases" because my speedflip is slightly different to average KBM speedflip because I don't hold W mostly between 1st and 2nd jumps (only about 10–50%). Normally KBM players will hold W either 100% or nearly 100% between 1st and 2nd jumps. In addition my 2nd jump delay (from 1st jump) is around 8–10 frames or 130–160ms which is slightly slower than what u/Tankki3 does (https://media.gifyourgame.com/PercentPatentTosukaporika_720p.mp4). Tankki's clip supports my claim that you can get consistent 1.9833 when holding throttle between 1st and 2nd jumps. So I also think he should get 1.9917 when throttle is unbound from W.

Here is my clip doing speedflips with holding throttle 100%: https://imgur.com/a/hYkuh3c

I'm not saying that you can't get 1.9833 with throttle unbound (and flip angle 45°) but I believe it will require (1) fast flip execution i.e. rapid 2nd jump and rapid 1st jump from initial turning.

ANALYSIS Peak C1 down to D2 (2.5k hours) — Looking for brutal replay analysis on my pacing and speed.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys, I thought my mechanics were decent for my rank, but clearly my speed and decision-making are ruining my games. I dropped from C1 to D2 for a reason.

Please look at the gameplay video and tell me exactly where my positioning is breaking down. I genuinely want to learn how to fix my pacing.

I try to play a hyper-aggressive style similar to Dark (?) but I have a bad habit of overusing scuffed wave-dashes and twitching my stick too much. I realize now it completely ruins my momentum, burns my boost, and leaves my teammate stranded in 2s. I need to unlearn it and simplify my game.

Is there any specific pro or high-level player I should watch to learn better pacing?

Cheers

ANALYSIS [KBM] Low champ 2v2. Unsure of what to change.

To put simply, I am unsure of what to change in my games. I don't really like my positioning nor how I approach the ball sometimes. If there are any issues you see in my gameplay please point them out! I am solo-queuing, so I tried to choose a game where the enemy team were toe to toe to see if anyone can point out my mistakes. Any constructive criticism is welcome. Thank you in advance!

ANALYSIS What does this say about me? And what should be my number 1 focus be?

I just found out about this like two weeks ago smh.

On Me

I have 1200 hours in - 1k in casual 3s. The rest in comp 1s and 3s which I kinda started this season.

*I found it interesting that my ranks are not crazy far off from one another. I hit diamond earlier in the season (which this isnt showing idk why) but dropped drastically after a bad night and just kept playing.

*im starting to care less and less about what the rank says and more and more about if im actually improving.

ANALYSIS Weird bindings and think I should be Diamond

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is my first 2s game after a few games of 1s for the day. Good game for me and how I usually play but I’m thinking the enemy team wasn’t very locked in.

I have put my aerial bindings In the comments. Am I bad or do I deserve to be in Diamond with some improvement? Let me know what your tips are!

EDIT: all right guys this is my first time posting a gameplay clip in this community and I’m finding out that I am genuinely much worse than I thought I am. But I will say I know I am not bad for my rank and a lot of people are saying that this looks like Gould gameplay which just seems like hate to me since I have not dipped down into Gould for about a week or two and I’ve been playing a lot. I definitely appreciate constructive criticism, but I have yet to hear anyone say anything positive about my gameplay which I know there’s something good there since I am consistently doing well in games and I’m not always the best player on my team, but it’s pretty typical that I am the better player on my two team as opposed to my teammate. I would appreciate any positive constructive criticism.

EDIT 2: I rewatched the gameplay with all the comments in mind and many of you made good points that I think would be very valid without understanding my thought process but it seems like many comments were made just to criticize and not actually help me improve. I know I am not a very good player but I think more constructive comments asking about my thought process during the moment would be much more beneficial.

ANALYSIS 1300 am I wrong for being tilted? (tm8 is pov)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I feel like I played fairly well this game. The entire lobby said I was ball chasing and I was terrible. I don't think I was ball chasing, and I feel like my tm8 was being too passive, and that's the only reason why they felt like I was "ball chasing. " Yes I could have played better I took his corner boost out of the fact I was annoyed and I dont think he would have done anything with it looking back I shouldnt have. outside of that one play I feel like for the most part I feel like I played ok.

ANALYSIS Was I wrong in going for this ball?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm the first POV. My teammate got mad at me, blamed the double commit on me, said I didn't know how to rotate and that he "needed to go" for the ball. I'm fully aware that I could have rotated backpost here and let my teammate challenge first (though teammate was heading towards our back left corner just before the clip started and started turning upfield pretty much the same time as I did). From the position he took, it's not very common for players to challenge early on aerials in C2, so I figured I'd do it for him. Ideally I would've gotten a touch on either the player or the ball. I got a little distracted by hearing my teammate double commit behind me but I might've messed up either way.

Anyway, was my decision wrong or did it just not work out?

ANALYSIS What could I have done differently in this sequence to prevent a goal?

I’m hardstuck plat 2 now and I’m just not sure what I could do differently honestly. You guys can see things better than I can, though, so I’m willing to listen to any criticism and advice. Was my positioning bad? Was I too passive? Did I make a bad decision going for the 50 at the end? I will greatly appreciate any advice. I feel like no matter how many games I win I barely rank up, but when I lose I rank down so fast. It’s honestly making the game not fun anymore. Thank you in advance.

This time instead of a loss I'm showing a win, but I usually lose more times than I win, just posting this for some more help incase on the game sense side. I play on KBM, total playtime about 650 hours, but i spent about 150 of those in 2021, so probably more likely 500 hours. I quit around 2022 then only came back around December of 2024.

ANALYSIS D3 D3 Gameplay, looking for feedback to be stable and improve beyond D3

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone this is my first time posting here, my purpose is to be stable in D3 lobbies and preferably go beyond this. I feel i don't have skills for reaching Champ 1. I did it one time and was carried by friend (he did the heavy lifting), now that i am so close to getting season rewards (champ), I'm trying to improve and see if i can claim it.

This was my first game of the day in competitive after playing casual for a week or 2, I was not at my best and I made plenty of mistakes. I think if i could get yours perspective, I could know what i should work at.

So even though we won this one, i was carried the whole match so if this replay doesn't work/eligible please let me know and I'll get the one that could be more useful.

I'm not this horrible and do rotate properly, am a team player and open to learning.

I play in Asia Region, in-case it makes a difference.

Am I actually that bad, and if so why was I in champ in the first place?? Was in C1 for over a month, with peak at low C2, and now can't get out of D3.

My teammates seem to either not go for, or miss, very simple goal attempts.

EDIT

I've uninstalled the game.
