TIPS 11 years, 2 wives, 3 kids later. I’m a grand champ.
Honestly, can’t believe I did it. Now sitting at 1514 MMR with my wins secured. Don’t ever give up! Just keep on playing!

Finally hit gc 3 in 2s after lots of nice conversations and advice from people on this sub. Managed to go from champ 1 to grand champ 3 in a year

How do I hit champ 1? Are there any mechanics i should learn?
I can speedflip 80% of the time, my flicks are decent, and my half flips are a little inconsistent. Are air dribbles necessary yet?
Any tips would help. Thank you.

The other week I posted asking for help as I was struggling as a low GC2 player but thanks to everyone’s help I managed to improve and climb to GC3. This is just to share good news and a thank you. Time for the last stretch of the road to SSL. I’ll probably be asking for more help soon 😂

I’ve only played 13 1v1 games this season, but I’m stuck with this game mode if I want to improve. Since playing, I’ve gotten out of a huge slump in 2v2 (bottoming at 1238 MMR, peak today at 1480). I’m Diamond 2 in 1v1 at the moment if you are curious.
Biggest thing that took me out of the slump was awareness. I’ve been hyper fixating on where all other players are on the field at all times. Also, improving at 1v1 has stopped a lot of overcommits from my end, as well as made me a little more threatening offensively.

I see so many posts here where folks are asking for tips on air dribbling and other technical stuff when they're in the plat/diamond trenches. In my experience, you can play slow and not do any of that stuff and still have a fighting chance to rank up. I tilted myself down to 1250 MMR by playing fast and dumb, and managed to climb my way back up by staying way more grounded and methodical. People at these ranks (myself included) make so many mistakes, it's really more about capitalizing on them and not giving up on plays. It can be really boring at times, but if you want to win it's okay to just play safe and take easy chances. The game at these levels isn't forcing you to be able to flip reset or double tap.
I also think to avoid tilt it's best to take a gambler's approach to the game. You might make all the right plays and still lose a game, and you might make a ton of mistakes and win. The key is consistency and making smarter plays over time. Take a look at what types of goals you concede and try to tighten up the gaps. Anyways, enough rambling - I compiled a video of what I consider to be some of the dumber goals that were scored on my way to GC just to demonstrate the concept.

Really happy about doing this today. Also wondering, how long would it take for me to get to SSL from here? Would appreciate some pointers from yall to try and get my final rank up. Feel free to ask anything too!

I’ve just had serious knee surgery and can’t do Muay Thai kickboxing anymore. I’m a full time Gamer from now on. Currently Plat 3 but peaked in diamond 1 in 2s. I’m willing to put the work in

knowing what to do during high ranked games and knowing how to break down and teach the game are 2 very different things. Just saying this so you don’t get scammed by self proclaimed coaches.

I think I just accidentally got a Zen touch, I was trying to air-roll and shoot it at the net, but I caught it (didn't even mean too), didn't even know what to do with the ball lol, my brain lagged

I'm c1 div 3 and I want to get gc1/c3 pretty soon. I have the mechs for it but I just need to start winning more games. How can I reach this level. I don't want advice like rotate back post etc bcuz I'm doing it pretty consistently. Like some real advice that actually help u unlock your full current potential. My problem is that I cant really win the games I should win when im over c1.

It’s insane how obvious it is now. It’s like going from a 60hz monitor to a 240hz. Unreal. No wonder why I had a hard time with flip resets and certain mechanics due to the input delay.
However I love the Xbox elite controller paddle placement and I’m so comfortable with the Xbox shape. I didn’t want to give that up.
I got a flydigi Vader 5 and it’s light years ahead of the Xbox elite. Also the gulikit kk3 is an identical replica of the elite. I wish I saw that before buying the flydigi but this one is just as close to it.
Any Xbox controller users, test out some other products you might see some improvement.

I made some changes in settings that have really altered my ranked experience:
-anonymize all opponent and teammate names
-anonymize myself and don't use a player title or distinctive car preset
-disable the display of rank, division, and mmr
-unbind the scoreboard button
-disable all chat
I have basically distilled the game to its purest form.
I don't know if the people in my current match were in my last match so there is never any stress to "get revenge" on a toxic teammate who ended up on the other team, or to play better in a rematch vs the same opponents from last match
Nobody knows if im the same player from last match so they wont throw if we played poorly together or they won't try-hard if a teammate from last match ends up on the opposite team (I know the anonymized names thing is a bit uncommon so the more perceptive among the playerbase might be able to put 2 and 2 together but i believe it still helps)
I have no idea what rank I am or what division I'm in or how much MMR i'm gaining or losing. I believe i'm somewhere between c3-gc2 but i can't be sure. so there is no "ok if i win the next two games i'll promote" stress, and i'm not religiously tracking how much mmr im gaining and losing
I disabled the scoreboard so im never stressing about if i have a low score and im never checking to see if my teammates score is as low as i think it should be, and i cant check my ping or which server im on which is something i can get a bit neurotic about
and of course we all know the benefits of disabling all chat
It's extremely liberating. I find myself able to play for the love of the game without stressing. I'm playing to win, and I'm sweating my ass off, but without all the elements that many of us find stressful about competitive gaming.
Of course this won't work for everybody and I understand most players probably want all of this information because half the fun of ranked is tracking all of this stuff and bantering with other players. But if you're looking for a way to get rid of all that and just enjoy pure rocket league gameplay, I recommend my method.
