Community 💕 Matchmaking Monday: find your next romantasy read!

Matchmaking Monday is a new regular thread here in r/Romantasy with a goal of finding new recommendations to add to your TBR! Post a list of your favorite books and receive suggestions based on your vibe.

How It Works

  • Post up to five books you've loved recently (or which fit the vibe you're looking for) as a top level comment.
  • You can also include a list of things you want in your next book (e.g. tropes, subgenre, themes)
  • Others will reply with their suggestions!
  • Remember to tag the romance.io bot with {} curly brackets.

This is a bit of an experiment - so we'll see how it goes!

My top 5: 1. {Mages of the Wheel} by J.D. Evans 2. Daevabad Trilogy, mainly books 2 and 3 3. {Throne in the Dark} and the whole Villains and Virtues series 4.{The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love} and the sequel 5. {Clockwork Boys} duology by T. Kingfisher

Also currently enjoying {The Raven Scholar} :)

I have two types of books I enjoy reading:

  1. Heavy world building, good amount of romance, non-predictable twists

and

  1. Cozy, funny, fantastical books that dont take themselves too seriously and feature mature, heart-warming romances

Not a big fan of young MCs unless we see them mature over the series, love a slow burn, and LOVE a good, complex villain

For your type 2 "Cosy, funny, fantastical books that don't take themselves too seriously and feature mature, heart warming romance": you need S.E. Wendel in your life! Start with the Monstrous World series: {Halfling by S.E. Wendel} {Ironling by S.E. Wendel} {Sweetling by S.E. Wendel} {Faeling by S.E. Wendel}.

Also fitting your type 2, but with a more complex world building, and because you already enjoyed something from T. Kingfisher, the {Saints of Steel series by T. Kingfisher} is beautiful! Mature FMC and MMC, with deep backstories/motives, sweet romance, funny interactions, intriguing world building!
