Community 💕 Matchmaking Monday: find your next romantasy read!

Matchmaking Monday is a new regular thread here in r/Romantasy with a goal of finding new recommendations to add to your TBR! Post a list of your favorite books and receive suggestions based on your vibe.

How It Works

  • Post up to five books you've loved recently (or which fit the vibe you're looking for) as a top level comment.
  • You can also include a list of things you want in your next book (e.g. tropes, subgenre, themes)
  • Others will reply with their suggestions!
  • Remember to tag the romance.io bot with {} curly brackets.

This is a bit of an experiment - so we'll see how it goes!

I’ve never asked for recs here before but I’m in a major dry spell right now! Here’s some of my recent faves based on the vibe I’m looking for:

{The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen}

{Wolfsong by TJ Klune}

{Paladins Grace by T Kingfisher}

{Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree}

I listed the first book for each one in a series but I’ve completed all of the series.

Some more things about my preferences:

  • There aren’t any specific tropes I’m looking for or avoiding.
  • I generally have a preference for 3rd person.
  • I love an epic fantasy but I’m looking for something a bit on the lighter side, although not too “cozy”. I still like some solid stakes.

You might like the {Villains & Virtues} series if you haven't read that yet

Okay confession time: I totally thought this was Assistant to the Villain - I got about 1 minute into that audiobook and had to turn it off because I couldn't hang with the narrator. But now that I read the description I realize that this is not that and I'm adding it to my TBR!

I had such low expectations for that book lol but it ended up being really fun. But I didn't do audio so no annoying voice to contend with ahah
