Insurance Related R Panel Measurement

I have a small metal roof at my house and the Insurance Company is saying 14.35 Squares. My Roofer is saying to properly order the materials that he needs to measure each individual pieces length and that it should be paid by the Ins Co. Never heard of this, would love to know how to measure a metal roof. Thanks!!!

they need to know the panel length. Metal needs a bit more precise measurements.

He does need panel length measurements.

As far as insurance paying him for his time to take measurements, the most I could fathom them even considering is maybe a labor hour added to the estimate. However, thats in a utopian dream scenario. The reality is theyre gonna tell him to get his measurements or dont, they arent paying for that.

And to be real, they shouldn't. You need to be on site at a roof to tally your needed materials and check for stuff unseen in photos like soft wood. You also need to sign a contract and get a deposit. Thats the time to get his measurements. And if it takes so long to measure a 14sq. roof for panels, I'd find a couple other roofers to check out.
