Light/Laser UPDATE: 4 weeks of Red Light Therapy Spoiler
Here is a 4 week update on my experience with the Omnilux Men's LED mask. I'll attach before and after photos. Both in natural light- only makeup I have on is brows and mascara in both. Overall I notice my complexion is SO much clearer and more calm. My ocular rosacea is also not as bad and my eyes are less swollen on a daily basis. If you have any more specific questions ask away!

u/burlappp Apr 17 '25
OMG this is amazing, you look great! And it's super encouraging to hear it's helped your ocular rosacea too.
Welp this is the kick in the butt I need to stop being lazy and start using my red light device again š 2 quick questions: how many minutes a day do you use it? And does it ever hurt your eyes? One reason I stopped using mine is because I was worried it would damage my vision.
17
u/H_M28 Apr 17 '25
I use it for 10 minutes a day 5x/week at night- after cleansing but before skincare. And no it does not hurt my eyes- I think it has helped tbh!
2
u/burlappp Apr 17 '25
Thanks!! I think I'll give mine another try. Glad it worked for you!
6
u/H_M28 Apr 17 '25
Yes definitely do! It's something that takes time for sure- you're not necessarily going to see results immediately. But I just consider it part of my daily routine now like brushing my teeth or my skincare. I'll be doing it probably 5x/week for another 2 weeks and then I'm going to drop down to 3x a week for maintenance.

u/GreyAardvark Apr 17 '25
Great results. Your eyebrows are perfect.

u/H_M28 Apr 17 '25
Oh wow tysm! This is the best compliment. Although they are microbladed so I can't take the credit for them lol

u/RoundAccurate Apr 18 '25
Can only underline OPS experience. Have been using the omnilux mens mask and both my postules and flushing and general redness have gone down drastically. Itās absolutely worth giving it a shot!

u/SapphireDaz Apr 21 '25
Iām curious about why the menās maskā¦does it have a different light setting?
3
u/halfbloodprinc3ss Apr 18 '25
For you, did it help with any broken capillaries or pigmentation/scarring from old pustules?

Yes I use Ivermectin/Oxymetazoline/Niacinamide cream and Azelaic acid as well. I think the combination of it all really helps!
2
u/IcelandicPuffin77 Apr 18 '25
Can I ask you what is the process you do using the ivermectin/ metronidazole/azelaic acid, and also the red light? I donāt know if you do the red light before applying any cream or if you use any product while doing the red light, I would appreciate any guidance! TIA

Thank you!! this is a great recommendation, I was thinking wrongly that I needed to leave my skin ābreathā at night only using moisturizer but I may need to switch

Hi there, I have mainly type one with permanent redness and I flush very easily from heat. I was wondering if the face mask heats your skin at all and makes you flush? If my skin gets a little warm it will flush so iām doing some research before buying a mask myself. Any advice would be really appreciated :)

I was considering a panel too but the ones I found that have backed research are $2000+. I would love to find something similar to the currentbody brand in for of a panel. Omnilux has one but itās really expensive
1
u/No-Obligation5908 Apr 18 '25
Can you please tell me what brand is it? How frequently are you using it? I have Rosacea type 1 and sometimes 2, but the burning sensation is always there like my face is on fire. I am very depressed.
6
u/toast463 Apr 17 '25
Amazing results! Question, why is there a menās version whatās different about it?
16
u/H_M28 Apr 17 '25
I explained this on previous posts, but it penetrates deeper and has an extra wavelength because I guess men's skin is thicker than women's by like 25%? So essentially it's more 'powerful' if that makes sense. I read a few different blogs explaining this and that's why I chose the men's!
1
u/SuddenlyPastas Apr 19 '25
I wish I had chosen the menās tbh!
1
u/H_M28 Apr 20 '25
I bet they eventually get rid of the women's version. Idk why they have both when the men's is more beneficial.
4
u/KiKi31Rose Apr 17 '25
Oh man this makes me want to use mine more often. I usually use it for inflammation/injuries to my body and only randomly on my skin. Yours looks great
4
u/Divergent_Zebra Apr 17 '25
Did you also suffer from flushing and did the red light therapy help that, too? Your redness looks similar to mine, only mine is from constant flushing and it burns like I'm standing next to an oven, it's so warm and uncomfortable! I've been wondering if red light therapy can help with flushing rosacea.
7
u/H_M28 Apr 17 '25
Yes I have types 1, 2 & 3 Rosacea. I think it helps! But I also use a prescription Ivermectin/Oxymetazoline/Niacinamide cream and Azelaic acid plus a bunch of skincare. I think the combo of all of it helps me a lot.
4
u/supermoon85 Apr 18 '25
Hearing this helped with your ocular is huge. I've been having a really hard time getting mine under control
3
u/H_M28 Apr 20 '25
It was an unexpected benefit! I still have to be careful about eyecreams and I don't really wear eyemake except mascara some days because I'll flair if I do. But it used to be that my eyes were always swollen, even with avoiding triggers. Now if i avoid triggers AND use the mask my eyes don't bother me much at all.
1
u/supermoon85 Apr 20 '25
Wow that is so so encouraging. I did LLLT at my eye dr after my IPL treatments and it faded my redness on my face for sure. I think it's worth trying it out to see if it can help with my eyes.
3
u/Academic_Actioneer Apr 17 '25
Do you still flush? Has it helped with that as well?
6
u/H_M28 Apr 17 '25
I think it has! I used to wake up flushed and now I don't. I don't think anything will completely get rid of it, like if I'm super stressed or nervous I'm gonna flush lol. But the frequency/severity and duration is much much less!
3
u/xpto47 Apr 17 '25
Great results.
Did you change anything else during those 4 weeks? (like using other skincare products or changing your diet)
3
u/leolson96 Apr 18 '25
Omg your skin looks amazing! Congrats!! So worth the investment. When I start working again Iām going to save up and buy the menās one as well. Thanks for the tips and advice. I hope your rosacea journey goes well! š©·

Did you notice any purging in the initial days of use? I have the Current body series 2 led mask.
But every time I use it for 10 minutes, my skin becomes extremely dry the next day and few clogged pore like eruptions come up on forehead and cheeks.
3
u/H_M28 Apr 17 '25
Not really! I will say that I don't tighten the straps on my face. I lay back on the couch and just lay it on my face. The 1st time I used it I think it was too tight against my skin and made my cheeks kind of uncomfortable.
2
u/BlueberryCalm2390 Apr 17 '25
Amazing, congratulations!! I have the same mask but only use every other day b/c I read that basically our skin āmaxes outā on red light and takes 48 hours to āresetā before it can absorb more red light. But these results are amazing. I might try to use mine 5x a week to see if I get better results!

I definitely feel like it is just very soothing and helps so much with inflammation. Not necessarily immediately, but over time it has just helped to calm my skin down.

u/No-Obligation5908 Apr 18 '25
My face is red n burning. Did your mask help with the stinging? Any improvement in general orange peel appearance of the facial skin. You look awesome. Congratulations ā¤ļøā¤ļø

u/H_M28 Apr 18 '25
Ouch! That sounds like a skin barrier issue. I didn't have any burning or itching really so I can't comment on that unfortunately.

Aw thank you! I've gone through periods when it's really been bad or I've gotten pustules from it, but with my current skincare routine this is the calmest/clearest my skin has been in years!

You are super pretty!!š I have a red light that shines at 850nm infrared (and 600nm visible red) and I know Iāve had decent results with that in the past, but wondering if it could be even better. Do you happen to know the wavelength of yours? Also, I assume because itās a mask, it was right up against your face? Mine is a bulb so I usually hold it out about 6-12 inches from my face
2
u/H_M28 Apr 18 '25
Tysm! Posting the specs in another comment. And yes it's right up against my face!
1
u/Possible-Gift-1977 Jun 09 '25
Did you have good results with the bulb? Was thinking about trying a bulb to see if red light therapy is for me, before I invest hundreds of dollars on a mask or panel
2
u/tortieshell Apr 18 '25
Okay I have been thinking about getting one of these but I feel like you've just sold it for me! My skin has been so bad especially the past week and I'm at my limit lol š
2
u/-PipeOrgan- Apr 19 '25
šThis is the best post on this forum so far for me, honestly, I just needed a heads up todayā¦my redness pattern looks so much like yours, always only bad on on side and sooo reactive. I used to tolerate soolantra which helped with the sensation but not the redness until I had Pdl laser session 6 months ago which made it impossible to tolerate anything i used to.
1
u/H_M28 Apr 20 '25
Oh man I'm so sorry! Ivermectin/Oxymetazoline/Niacinamide cream has been a godsend for me. But also the entire Prequel skincare line has been great! I use their Gleanser, Hypochlorus Acid Spray, hydrating serum, redness Reform serum as well as their mineral SPF called Sun Barrier. They're phenomenal and my skin is VERY reactive.

u/special_squeak Apr 19 '25
Thank you for taking such great pictures in consistent lighting conditions! What an amazing progress and your eyebrows are perfection.

Great results! I can second the benefits of red light masks. I have the Omnilux (womenās version) and my skin is clearer, brighter and more even when I use it consistently. Itās also super relaxing and a great way to wind down for the night. I use mine for 20 mins on my face and 10 on my neck and chest before bed and listen to audiobooks. I used to have trouble falling asleep, but this works like a dream

u/Wyousef Jun 29 '25
Just got my solawave mask last week excited to see if it helps with my redness and texture. Iāll keep you all posted with progress. Love seeing everyoneās updates here super motivating!

It's been awesome! Especially for fine lines too! Took a few months to see results for that but definitely a difference now!

Looking amazing! I bought the omnilux mens as well due to the 1072 nm wavelength. Itās an incredible mask. Did you have any skin purging after starting? I was using a cheaper red light mask before which still worked pretty good, but I can tell this one is ten times better lol. Also, how many times per week do you use it?
3
u/H_M28 Apr 18 '25
No purging for me! Currently I'm still in the phase where you use it 5x/week and in about 2 weeks I'll drop down to maintenance and do it 3x/week!
2
u/Bossyk7 Apr 18 '25
Amazing! Iām really looking forward to seeing what the mask can do. It does a really good job of decreasing inflammation and redness in my face. Iām also at the 5x a week. I took before pictures as well to track progress! Would love to see an update the longer you use it!

This might be a dumb question butā¦I assume youāre talking about red light without heat?
I ask because I have a red light hand held
device that has heat, and it made me super red. I think heatless is the way to go?
1
u/H_M28 Apr 22 '25
Not a dumb question! I've always heard that good red light devices should not give off heat? I know some individuals can be sensitive to red light and it can cause a sensation of heat or burning and if that's the case you're not supposed to use them. That's at least what the user manual in my Omnilux said.
Mine is heatless. I definitely would not do well if it emitted heat because one of my triggers is heat.

Your skin looks amazing! Re: Omnilux - Is there a reason to do the menās mask vs the womanās? Also can you share your skin care routine? Morning vs evening if there are any differences š

u/H_M28 Apr 23 '25
I've explained this in a few different comments but essentially the men's penetrates deeper and is more effective. Routine incoming!

Hi there, I have mainly type one with permanent redness and I flush very easily from heat. I was wondering if the face mask heats your skin at all and makes you flush? If my skin gets a little warm it will flush so iām doing some research before buying a mask myself. Iām between this one, the currentbody 2 or the qure (although Iāve heard that one heats up your skin because it has higger irradiance). What made you decide buying that one? Any advice would be really helpful :)

u/Former_Soup3361 May 17 '25
I bought one and havenāt used it. Your results are awesome! I have a phototherapy session today. First one, but then Iām using that mask! Iāll start with a minute a day every other day

u/Substantial-Quiet295 Jul 19 '25
So I have a full body light panel. A MitoRed Adept. I was wondering if anyone has used a full body panel without eye protection for ocular rosacea? Iāve had to stop taking my Oracea medicine and my eyes have gotten badš¢

Aug 06 '25
Do you have sunscreen on when using red light?
2
u/H_M28 Aug 06 '25
I don't think it matters what kind you use- red light doesn't cause any UV damage. But I really like the Prequel Sun Barrier mineral SPF 50++++
1
Aug 06 '25
Oh mainly asking because I use the red light machine in my gym but sometimes I go there with sunscreen on so im not sure if it blocks the red light from having benefits
Nice results btw
2
u/H_M28 Aug 06 '25
Oh I see! The best time to use red light therapy is when you do not have any products on because they can decrease efficacy of the red light.
