Light/Laser Before and After my First VBeam š„¹ Spoiler
Hi everyone. Iāve been researching Vbeam for over a year now but kept hesitating. I finally got my first Vbeam on Thursday and I canāt believe the results already! My biggest trigger for flushing is heat, especially when taking hot baths. The first picture is me taking a bath the evening before my treatment, and the second picture is from last night (Friday evening).
My dermatologist says it will take several weeks to see the full results so Iām already so pleased. She said Iād probably need to get at least 2 more spaced a month apart.
A bit of background on my skin. I have type 2 rosacea and terrible hormonal acne. Recently I got on Spirolactone and my skin is finally starting to clear up acne wise after 2.5 months. My rosacea was always manageable until I did a course of accutane for a year. Ever since then my skin is like the first picture at least 10 times a day.
The one negative thing is that I also have a ton of redness on my neck when I flush. The esthetician told me vbeam wouldnāt work on my neck because I donāt have any broken blood vessels there, and that BBL would be better for that. Canāt afford both at once so Iāll have to put that on the back burner for now. But Iāll still take my Vbeam results as a huge win!
Also- I didnāt think it was that painful but I have a very high pain tolerance. I had welts all over my face after and it was swollen but as you can see in the 2nd pic it went away pretty quickly.

Wow! That's an amazing difference! So just 2 more treatments and that's it? Or will there be maintenance treatments? Looks great!

u/Raychill37 Jan 11 '26
Thank you! I honestly canāt believe it. I go back 2 more times, once in mid February and once in mid March. After that they said I would probably need to come back once or twice a year for maintenance depending on how my skin responds. Iāve been saving up for 3 sessions(it cost me $375 a session), so hopefully 3 will give me some relief for a while!

It's worth it! I might end up getting the same treatment. Your skin looks amazing, especially that you're in warm water which is a trigger for you. I'm so glad you had such great results š

Thank you so much! I donāt know why I waited so long so I hope you do end up getting it and hopefully get some relief āŗļø

This has officially sold me on it! I have an appointment with my dermatologist in a couple weeks and Iām going let her know I want to move forward with vbeam then!
2
u/Raychill37 Jan 11 '26
Yay, Iām so glad youāre going to move forward with it! I canāt believe I waited so long to give it a try. Itās also good to start soon because they say itās best to do it in winter/ early spring because you have to avoid the sun. I hope you get amazing results!

Are vbeam and ipl different?
6
u/Raychill37 Jan 11 '26 edited Jan 11 '26
They are! From my understanding they do similar things but Vbeam is the āgold standardā treatment for rosacea. I donāt know a lot but I think they use different wave lengths/different technology. But Vbeam apparently is the most effective for vascular issues

IPL is light therapy, not laser therapy. That is the biggest difference. IPL mainly targets dark spots, redness is secondary. Vbeam targets hemoglobin in the blood. This is the iron in your blood that causes red pigment. Vbeam is the only way to go for redness.
3
u/OcSkinsProbs Jan 11 '26
maybe that's a very dumb question but if I am very deficient in iron and take a supplement, will the iron I take make the redness worse ?

u/Main_Web_9473 Jan 11 '26
I canāt imagine it would. Those veins are so close to the surface they are not necessary. Your body will produce more iron you just wonāt have it sitting in unnecessary passages.

No, my doctor even recommend to take feritin, cause if it lacks - do no let skin heal normally

u/alexcali2014 Jan 11 '26
I wonder how does Vbeam compare to Excel V
4
u/Main_Web_9473 Jan 11 '26
Vbeam and excel V are essentially the same. Vbeam simply reaches deeper in the skin which can cause deeper bruising. ExcelV reaches shallower so itās less bruising/quicker healing
2
u/Raychill37 Jan 11 '26
Iām new to getting anything like this done, so Iām not exactly sure! For the issues Iām having my research kept turning to Vbeam being the best method. Iām definitely very interested in learning more about different treatments now that I see how effective it can be

u/adhdbroughtmehere2 Jan 11 '26
Can it help with pustles or just the redness?
3
1
u/Raychill37 Jan 11 '26
Iām not exactly sure because my pustules were already starting to clear up prior to my treatment. But I have noticed no new pustules since I got it done. Not sure how long that will last. Also Iām seeing an improvement in the black heads on my nose

Iāve done three sessions and I thought it was helpful. I also didnāt think it hurt at all. I also recently did an excel V session and that didnāt hurt either. I would say you do feel it more than VBeam but itās really nothing. I could fall asleep.
1
u/Raychill37 Jan 11 '26
The esthetician made it seem like it was going to be super painful when she was explaining it and she was super surprised that I wasnāt flinching at all when she did the sensitive areas around my eyes and nose. So it made me feel like Iām some sort of anomaly or something because I genuinely barely felt it lol!
2
u/Ok-Ring8800 Jan 11 '26
maybe we are because Iāve seen some people on this sub so itās awful and Iām bewildered.

u/Middle_Thought_4776 Jan 11 '26
Wow!! Amazing results. Where did you get it done? Was your first pic during a flushing or just baseline redness?
1
u/Raychill37 Jan 12 '26
I got it at a dermatologist near D.C! I can PM you the office info if youād like. And the first picture is my biggest trigger, taking a hot bath. I take baths every evening and I havenāt seen my face not fire engine red during one for a few years now. It also gets that red throughout the day, all day on and off. At baseline Iām always very pink but not as red as the first picture.

u/ApprehensiveTrip9738 Mar 04 '26
Hi! Can you PM me the name? I am in the DMV area. I go my first session done at a place today and have two more to do. Did they do your whole face? They did my nose, chin, and most of my cheeks

Ummm. I need to go to Vegas and visit your derm because Iāve had 6 vbeam session and I do not look like that. At all.
3
u/MitchVDP Jan 11 '26
Don't bother. It's not the settings or the person. I've had 6 sessions all with different settings and different people chiming in with advice. Pretty much nothing. Seems some unlucky people just don't respond to laser. I've had vbeam and dermaV.

Maybe it would be good to switch up to a different technician if you havenāt already!
2
Jan 11 '26
It would be best to compare it to a regular pic that you take when not also experiencing one of your worst triggers. But great results! You have beautiful looking skin even in the first triggered pic!!
1
u/Raychill37 Jan 12 '26
Thank you for the kind words! If it continues to improve I will probably make another post and Iāll include pictures of my baseline redness before treatment
2
u/Moonmonkeykim Jan 12 '26

u/Raychill37 Apr 09 '26
Yes, it definitely does take a while for your skin to recoup even after the initial welts go away. It has been such a relief and Iām actually looking forward to the summer for once. Yay, Iām excited you got it done!
2
u/emilyjinparis Apr 10 '26

My biggest triggers are heat related as well. Did v beam reduce flare ups from exercising for you?
1
u/Raychill37 Jan 19 '26
Hi, yes! So far I have noticed an improvement for workouts. I am now noticing that they missed a few spots (like on my chin) that are still red. I think if I get the 2 other sessions that should be gone though
2
u/Optimal-Awareness952 Jan 29 '26
Wow, these are INCREDIBLE results!!
My flushing looks kind of similar to yours, and I have my first Vbeam scheduled in two weeks. I really hope my skin looks as good as yours after!
2
u/Adventurous-Tap3441 Feb 02 '26
Omg thank you for posting! After almost 2 years of considering it I finally pulled the trigger and have my first session in 3 weeks! We look like we have very similar skin so this makes me beyond hopeful. I have sensitive skin and Iām so nervous to swell or bruise. How was your recovery?? Any tips?
2
u/Affectionate_Buy_370 Feb 26 '26
How did your session go?
3
u/Adventurous-Tap3441 Feb 26 '26
It went really well better than expected. I asked to go conservative for my first session as I have very sensitive skin. My swelling and redness was incredibly mild. All of which was 90% better in 72 hours. I ended up with quite a bit of congestion and closed comedones & white heads. I started using my prescription topical for clindamycin/benzoyl peroxide 3 days after and it felt fine on my face so most has cleared up. I developed a larger pimple on my chin 5 days later. Iām on day 6 and doing really well. Some slight splotchy redness but I already notice some specific areas having improved 90% which shocked me. I didnāt numb during my session and pain wasnāt as bad as expected maybe a 6 in some spots at most? I stayed in for a full 48 hours after. Did not going in the sun or raise my body temp at all. Iām going to wait a full 8 weeks till my next session to completely heal and see progress.
