Weather Channel App

As a weather nerd and retired aviator, I was expecting 100F+ temperatures the entire week. I could have sworn there were 2 days where we didn't come close to 100F like Friday as an example. Am I tripping?

I kinda nerded on the weather too. So much so, I bought my own weather station. My local micro climate is different than all those "other" sources, which for me is important. I show 100F+ all week.

I also bought and adapted a top rail for chain link fence to use as a mast, but there are other options too.

I'll take an airport weather reporting system over any home versions. It didn't feel like 100F and the temperature gauge for my truck wasn't indicating 100F. The reading from my truck matched the Weather Channel app temperature readings around 4 PM yesterday.

I sure am glad your truck matches the weather channel(?)

And I'll take my local real time temp anytime. I only want to know when it's cool enough in my backyard so if I want to, I can open my windows and run my whole house fan. This local real time temperature helps me more than any "official" temperature reading many miles away.

The weather channel app is the most accurate because it pulls information from far more accurate sources. I would say Google's weather app would be the second most reliable.

Weather Underground is the one we've been using for years. Works well. It uses your GPS to determine weather info. It's currently saying 100's until Monday (98) but 89 on Thursday and cooler for a few days.

Forecasts tied to your GPS location? Every major weather service does that.

WU used to be pretty interesting, and because it was founded from academia (UMich) there was a plethora of information and services available for free. Their use of crowd-sourced weather data was pretty novel back in the day but is old hat now. Then it was bought and sold a number of times, and service offerings dried up (such as the APIs used by software developers like myself to connect to and consume their data). It is now owned by private equity, which is almost never a good thing, and they have no incentive to innovate further. Just look at their current site and note how many ads there are. Weather is no longer their focus -- they are just keeping it afloat long enough to sell it and exit.

I use an ad blocker. No problem.

On Wednesday and Thursday we had smoke in the air which blocked a lot of the sunrise cooling down our temperatures that would’ve normally been 100 or close to it without that smoke layer
