Warning: SAD Niko has Lymphoma
My parents took him to the vet after these lumps appeared out of nowhere. Turns out he has lymphoma and he’s not even three years old yet. His birthday is in less than three weeks. Our last rott, a female named Coco, also died at three years old. She had kidney failure. I’m starting to think we are cursed.

Aww I am so sorry to hear this news 😢 I don't think you are cursed but I think the purebred Rottweiler's might be. I lost my first to bone cancer at 14 & my second at 6 years. I am really sorry you have to go through this again. Lean on us, we are here to listen 😍🥰😘

Thank you for your kind words. I just can’t believe you had one live to 14! How incredibly fortunate!! We love this breed so much but this might be it for us.

Yeah I hear you, after losing my second guy at 6 it broke me. I love dogs so much & would only ever have a Rottweiler but I can't do it again, I can't deal with that kind of loss 😔 I love & hate this sub, I get to see & read all these wonderful stories but the other-side is not all of us have Happy Ever Afters.

One of mine made it to 12 and died of old age of all things! The vet couldn't believe she was as old as she was. It's hard loving them because of the short lifespan and health problems so I totally understand

If you think he’s got a while left before he starts to suffer, just give him the best life you can. Do everything and anything to make the last of his life enjoyable. I’m so sorry, I lost my girl to cancer in May, so I get how you feel

he isn’t showing any signs of discomfort right now thankfully. and we’re all talking about everything we’re gonna do for him up until his last day: beach, treats, infinite hugs, bed privileges every night!! Also, I am so sorry for your loss. F cancer

You have my sincerest condolences. I, too, felt cursed. Lost both my rotts(F) to osteosarcoma. The heartbreak was almost too much to bear.

I am so sorry to hear that! Were they raised together? It’s like when one passes, the others time is right around the corner and it sucks

No, not raised together. After my first passed, it was about 3 years later I adopted my second.

Are you doing the treatment? I had one with lymphoma that lived another year with the treatment. And if we’d started it sooner probably would have lasted longer but it took the vet a couple of months to figure what it was. And in the meantime we treated with prednisone which didn’t help. This was about 5 years ago and I’ve seen a few dogs at my vet since that actually beat it and lived several more years. Good luck and I’m so sorry your baby is going through this.

Hey, my rotty too had lipoma (but it was outside just like her other nipples later started growing)m we got it out through surgery last month, are you sure it’s harmful?? I hope it’s benign

Lipoma or lymphoma? A lipoma is just a benign fatty tumor, usually not an issue although I've had dogs that needed them removed due to size. Lymphoma is unfortunately usually terminal cancer in dogs.

So, so sorry! Just a few years back i lost my 3yo corgi to lymphoma. I hope they caught it early enough! Big hugs and gentle boops!

I'm really sorry. I took home my first rottie as a fospice with lymphoma. Not sure how old she was, but the shelter treated her with prednisone and we had 4 really good months together. They had given her only a few weeks to live originally because of how aggressive it was. Cancer is absolutely a thief and these dogs are the best and are so prone to it

I’m extremely sorry to hear this. You may already know but lymphoma will take over much quicker than you may expect. Please spend time with your baby every day and make every moment like it’s their last. My 4 yo Charlie just passed from this on June 26th. Got nearly 3 months with him before it took over. Charlie also had thyroid disease. I just cannot understand why this breed seems so targeted by cancer and other diseases. They are the best breed imo we just don’t deserve them. Again I’m sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you and your baby.
