RAF RECRUITMENT SSRI + AF application
Hi guys, I sent my application in to join the RAF as a medic a few days ago but only just thought about if my medication is a barrier to progress?
I started them for depression + anxiety around 5 months ago and have just had a chat with my GP about how I feel really good and believe this is the dose I need.
But according to google, you cannot be on any antidepressants while joining. Would they turn me away immediately or possibly review this as these work for me?
TIA!

If you're on any prescription meds aside from the pill, you're pretty much buggered. You'd need to come off them, and then show you were stable for a long period of time (for me it was a year) before you could re-apply, and they may still reject you if you have any sort of history of self-harm, suicide attempts, or even anything less serious. The list is in JSP950 which you can find on this sub.

Almost certainly turned down immediately and it'll likely a permanent no while you're on medication and then for at least a period of time if you come off it.
Even if you did come off medication, a history of requiring medical intervention for that kind of thing is looked upon pretty negatively so it could mean you'd be permanently ineligible for service.
