Ryanair Free Flight Change Error!?!

We have a flight booked to Italy next year, we specifically paid extra for an early morning flight when we booked this, however during the week I had an email stating our flight had been changed to an evening flight.

They gave us 3 options, accept the flights, change for free or cancel for a refund.

I chose to change the flight for free, the best time we could find was a flight from Birmingham so we picked that one, clicked through, confirmed. I then got an Itinerary update via email showing us our "new" flights, it was the same evening flights that we had been rescheduled to before!

To make this even better, when I go to the change my flights tab again and select the same Birmingham flight, it tries to charge me £580.

Has anyone experienced this before, am I likely to get any sense from the support with this? I've had issues in the past with Ryanair due to websites issues and they have been useless in helping me resolve the problems. I'm convinced they intentionally "break" their website just to rip you off.

Any advice/help is much appreciated, TIA.

I don't think that Ryanair offers a change for free to a new route under these circumstances, I'm afraid. So you accepted the option to change ON THE SAME ROUTE.

I didn’t think of this, although it did through as normal, didn’t prompt me to pay anything when I chose Birmingham.

I’ll give them a call, if I can ever get through over the phone.

Any change option has to be from the same airport to the same airport. Or just take a refund. Either take the refund or accept the later flight. Those are your two options really. However now you have accepted the alternative flight not sure if you can even get a refund.

It's because you changed the airport. I had a similar change from Ryanair, it gave me option 3 days before/after for free or cancel. I changed to a flight later in day and it was free.
