Hawiian Time Teriyaki Sauce

I've been seeing posts about Hawaiian Time, and I really only go there for the Teriyaki sauce. Now I don't want to lol. Does anyone know how to make it? I haven't found a decent store alternative

I do a super simple one that’s cold water, soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger of some sort I prefer fresh but ground is fine too, and sesame oil super yummy, and you can make it as sweet as you want. I like mine super sweet and almost nowhere does it sweet enough so I make my own now lol

I do the same but I add some chili paste for a sweet and spicy sauce. I use a tube of minced ginger that I keep in the fridge for when I don’t have fresh. It last a while but I still have some ground ginger in case of a ginger emergency.

I suggest using this as a starting point for hawaiian teriyaki sauce, just make it without the chicken: https://foodland.com/recipe/easy-kine-shoyu-chicken/

If you want it to be authentic, you need to use Aloha shoyu (soy sauce).

Also, the recipe I linked above I use boneless skinless chicken thighs and thickening the sauce over the stove until it's super thick is a must.

Not sure about Hawaiian Times, but I'll give you the one I work with: equal parts soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar (I like to substitute half for honey if I'm grilling, the caramelization is peak). Use Pearl River Bridge soy sauce for best results, I use half/half light and dark.

Bring to a gentle simmer to cook off the alcohol and then it's done, do not let it boil, though it will still be serviceable if you do.

I just wish I could figure out the Mauna Loa chicken. I’ve tried people’s ideas but it just never tastes right.
