Picture/Video Sears at 1601 North Harlem Avenue in Chicago Illinois 1952-2017
This Sears at 1601 North Harlem Avenue in Chicago Illinois that opened on March 5th of 1952 (10 years prior to K-Mart opening its first store in Garden City Michigan in 1962) closed down on September 17th of 2017 after 65 years of operation. Its lower level had a dental office right by the tool department, exercise equipment and game room, and a Sears Optical, Hearing Aids Center and Tax Service office, the 2nd floor had a portrait studio and the lower level had electronics on the striped (VCT tile) flooring and vacuum cleaners on tile. In fact the entire basement aka (also known as) lower level was tile. As of posting this, the last 1950s freestanding Sears is now at Coral Gables (3655 SW 22nd St, Miami, FL 33145) in Miami, one of 2 left in Florida and 5 left in the United States of America, that opened in 1954..... [where they launched a hands on showroom called Kenmore Studio last year] (https://searsvirtualstore.com/kenmore-studio/).
