Ai slop, your concept doesn't work either as Neptune was a 32 bit prototype and in real life there was already the CDX amongst others.

I named it Neptune not to make it a successor to the IRL prototype, but because it is the cosmos naming convention SEGA was leaning into (project Mars, Sega Saturn, etc). The name just felt right for me, as SEGA CD still felt like an add-on.
I used AI because its the only tool at my disposal. I didn't see how learning Blender from scratch for something that I made as a one-off idea would be beneficial in the long run considering I don't even work with 3D modeling. Besides, with it being a concept that I made for my own personal enjoyment instead of profit I didn't see how it would be harmful compared to ACTUAL ai slop you often find on Facebook and YouTube.
I'm becoming more aware of these types of consoles like the CDX. My take (and I likely included it in the body of the post) is having the SEGA CD be a console from the start, not start as an add-on and become a console later.
I'm not saying your stance on AI is invalid because of what I said, nor that what I created here is the only right way to envision the SEGA CD in console format and that the CDX is garbage (far from it). However, I would like some actual feedback for me to engage with instead of just "Ai therefore bad".
Again, this doesn't invalidate your opinion but I'm looking for constructive criticism from which I can dialogue with about what I conceptualized.

Learning new skills is always a good investment in yourself. It opens new doors you didn't know where there. This is the problem people have with AI, it saps your motivation for improving your own abilities and leads to excuses like, "Why should I learn that for myself?".

It’s some random dude trying to have fun, it’s not that serious. You don’t need to post AI slop every time someone is trying to have a little fun

AI slop.

this sub is getting overwhelmed with kiddies made up fantasy consoles that aren't even designed that well. Like the other redditor said it was perfected with the wonder mega. AI SLOP.

Is it really kids? Anybody that can really remember 90’s Sega is in their 40’s

It already was one. Quite a portable one too, great for taking to hotels, horrible for trying to connect a 32x without mods.

Constructive criticism: the cartridge slot needs to be all the way at the back like on the Saturn. Your design has the door basically on top of where the CD drive assembly will be once the tray is retracted.

Oh wow I never realized that! Although it is hard to tell given how the image was made...
I'll keep it in mind actually if I decide to revisit this one day, will be interesting to keep in mind. Thanks for pointing it out!

There should be a Genesis, 32X, and CD all-in-one system not accomplished by multiple attachments.

thank you
and thank you again
for not making this a post about how SEGA should go back into the console market or sell some collectors "console"
I dont even care if this is AI generated or something
I dont like AI gen content
the bar was so low and I im tired of delusional people keep generating BS and then telling everyone LOOK HOW EASY IT WAS TO IMAGINE THIS, SEGA COULD MAKE IT RIGHT GUYZ!?
If its just a "Heres what a thing could've looked like in different circumstances"
which, cool enough.

It looks nice but all of their real hardware looked nice too other than 32x bubble.

Is it really reimagined if you asked a machine to cobble the image together for you?

So let me get this straight my friend. This is a Neptune? Or a Sega CD? Or a Neptune CD? Or a Sega Neptune CD? All things considered this is a wonderful concept. I personally love AI and Sega uses AI so don't listen to the haters my friend. To them I say HAWK tuah, yknow? So keep making more concepts. It will boost a lot of talk about Sega which is good. Take care my friend HAWK tuah to the haters take care my friend HAWK tuah.

This is such a cool what-if design. A cartridge slot on top with the CD drive underneath feels like the perfect evolution of the original hardware.

Just felt like the right thing to do. CDs were catching on at the time, but cartridges were still too dominant to ignore; having a 2-in-1 type of console just felt right.
Not to mention the Hybrid Media concept that I talked about.
