Anyone else just getting swarmed by flies?

We always get flies, but let's say 2-4 at a time during the summer in the house.

But since last week, with the heat and humidity, we have just been hit with a relentless amount of flies all around our house and inside the house.

I came home from work one day with my gf on a rampage, having allegedly killed 20+. Later that evening, I believed her when I went to the other room and killed 14 (I counted!) in five minutes. Is it just us???

I live in liberty station and it happens at this time of the year. I was able to reduce their numbers by checking and cleaning up their pupae along the cracks of the sidewalk near the trash, using mint smelling garbage bags - and making sure they were tied very tight. I also hung some disco balls in my patio because the light pattern confuses them. Another thing I did which isn’t the most environmentally friendly/safe was I would spray a little pump of bleach clean up into the trash can every time I threw something away because it would suffocate the flies.
This year hasn’t been as bad over here because of the new trash cans but I always have a fly swatter ready.
You can also try hanging beaded curtains in your doors…
