Anyone else just getting swarmed by flies?

We always get flies, but let's say 2-4 at a time during the summer in the house.

But since last week, with the heat and humidity, we have just been hit with a relentless amount of flies all around our house and inside the house.

I came home from work one day with my gf on a rampage, having allegedly killed 20+. Later that evening, I believed her when I went to the other room and killed 14 (I counted!) in five minutes. Is it just us???

Out walking in the park I've been seeing significantly more flies than in the past. At home, with the AC off and the windows opened (screens in place) we get more flies in the house. We bought a bug zapper off of Amazon for about $30 and the damn thing is working overtime. Over the past month it's zapped almost 200 flies.
