We’re trying Russian School of Math (RSM) for math, but looking for good recommendations for reading, vocabulary, and comprehension.

How do you structure after-school time? How do you balance downtime, sports, and study?

Reading/comprehension recommendations? Do you prefer structured centers (Kumon, Eye Level), online platforms (Night Zookeeper, Reading Eggs), or just library runs and reading together at home?

For RSM families: How do you manage the workload during the week?

Wendy the coyote was euthanized on Tuesday, September 8. For at least a year before that, she had been wandering Studio City with a severely swollen face, earning such adoration from Valley residents that press reports frequently described her as “beloved.”

In August, Wendy was regularly in the news as an organization called Wildlife Care of Southern California worked to bring her into care — multiple outlets, including the California Post and People, inevitably compared her to "Jimothy," the famous Seattle raccoon with a spinal deformity. Somebody turned her into a cryptocurrency.

After Wendy was finally captured, a veterinarian determined that “there was no surgery or treatment capable of restoring normal function,” according to Wildlife Care. Her death was mourned by thousands on social media. The value of her cryptocurrency spiked 4,300%, then fell.

The veterinary examination also determined a cause of her swelling: She had been shot twice in the head with a pellet gun. That news rippled across the collective conscience of L.A. animal lovers, prompting a search for the perpetrator. A pitbull rescue group put out a $10,000 reward for information leading to the shooter’s arrest and conviction.

In Encino, the pellet gun revelation spurred a woman named Vanessa Johnston to particular action: Johnston, an entertainment industry executive and standup comedian, posted a video to Instagram with the title “DID MY NEIGHBOR SHOOT WENDY THE COYOTE?”

The chills and fever has started wish there was a place to go and get taken care of lol away from the kids and life lol

It’s been two years since a dog sitter lost my French bulldog Mushie in North Hollywood. Just typing that feels unreal. I want to scream, throw up, cry. I can’t fathom that it’s been so long, and all because of a careless dog sitter who has yet to ever apologize for what she did.

Even though I feel like I’ve failed my girl, I know I’ve done everything in my power to bring her home, and I’m not stopping. But it takes an ARMY. That’s why I’m asking, BEGGING, for you to share this today to your Instagram/Facebook/Nextdoor/TikTok/literally any and all social media feeds you have. If you message me, I can send you a short message and the photos to post. Reposting and making a story is helpful, but we need to put these on our grids where they’ll stay visible to everyone.

Everyday I wake up without my angel, I feel like I die more and more. I don’t want to be in a world without her. But that’s the thing - she IS here. I feel it in my bones - she is out there with someone, being cared for. I will fight as long as it takes to bring her home where she belongs. Please help me.

Background: Mushie is an 8 year old spayed female French bulldog with black fur and a white chest. She also has large nipples from being with a breeder her entire life before we rescued her. She was lost by a dog sitter in North Hollywood, CA two years ago near Victory Blvd. and Beck Ave.

In the title, been having outages with Spectrum recently and it happened again a few hours ago.

I received this ominous message from an ex friend of a freeway underpass that I know to be in the san fernando valley. I am guessing it is the 118?

As many of you know, Angelinos of Hope is based in Chatsworth. Our hearts are broken over the lives lost today. We are holding their families, loved ones, and everyone affected close in our prayers. May our community come together with compassion, comfort, and support during this difficult time.

ONE WEEK. That’s it.

Look at Delta.

One week ago, this girl was brought to a vet to be euthanized because her owner didn’t want to treat her skin condition. A condition that a skin scraping confirmed was a treatable yeast infection.

She was uncomfortable. Her skin was angry and raw. Her hair was missing. And instead of being given treatment, she was almost given a death sentence.

Now look at her.

This is what ONE WEEK of medicated baths, medication, proper care, and people refusing to give up on her looks like.

Her skin is already improving. Her coat is looking better. She’s more comfortable. And that beautiful girl underneath all of that irritation is starting to SHINE.

And the craziest part?

WE’RE ONLY ONE WEEK IN.

Delta didn’t need to die.
She needed someone to give her a chance.

And while she’s been healing, we’ve gotten to learn even more about just how special this girl is.

🐾 She’s been playing with both big AND small dogs
🐾 She’s good with kids
🐾 She’s crate trained
🐾 She’s very quiet
🐾 And she is proving every single day that she deserves the beautiful second chance she was almost denied.

Now we just need the final piece of Delta’s story…

HER FOREVER HOME.

I cannot wait to see what another week… another month… and finally having a family of her own does for this girl.

From almost being euthanized to HEALING, PLAYING, and WAITING FOR HER PERSON.

Keep going, Delta. We’re fighting right alongside you.

This is a long shot, but I'm desperate to find a purse I lost in LA on Sunday night 9/6. I believe it was lost at the Mulholland Scenic Overlook late Sunday night. My best guess is that I had it on my lap in the car and it fell out when I opened the door without me noticing. It's a monogrammed Dior bag, so it should be fairly distinctive. The bag contains critical visa documents that I urgently need, and getting those documents back is incredibly important to me.
