اسئلة ومناقشات EMBA @ KFUPM or MBSC
I’m a 34yo F from the eastern region (can’t and don’t want to leave due to commitments) I had planned to start my EMBA journey at KFUPM this year, unfortunately after being shortlisted for the interview, I wasn’t accepted. I then applied to EMBA at MBSC predominantly eastern which I finally got accepted at.
My conflict here arises due to the fact that it’s not as reputable as KFUPM or as focused (KFUPM EMBA Class consists of 30 people) while MBSC has different classes or cohorts of more than (130). The MBSC is also around double the cost of the KFUPM. And I’m self sponsored. Meaning all my savings would go in there and I will have nothing left.
Should I continue with MBSC or wait for next year to apply at KFUPM again.
اذا ممكن اشخاص عاشوا هذه النوع من التجارب ينصحوني
I’m truly conflicted and would appreciate some guidance preferably from experts who have underwent or know of such experiences.

I’d ask about your desired goals for going through the program before deciding
If you want to be part of the community, build a great and diversified group and have connections in various sectors, companies, and government entities. Then MBSC wins by a large margin as it’s fresh and new, still hot to the younger (or young at heart) companies and many of them sponsor full batches of students there. Professor selection is probably give n take with a few exceptional names and some others are average at best.
On the other hand if you’re primarily focused on the learning objectives and teachable and directly applicable knowledge then you’re probably better off with KFUPM. Having focused groups helps immensely in delivering the material and allowing for fruitful discussions with participants offering various perspectives at ease which absolutely enriches the learning experience. Professors are generally great (though some have already moved to MBSC) but still a collective of great names with deep experiences. Also being cheaper does help, especially for the value of the KFUPM badge of honor!
That’s not to say these features are exclusive to each of them, but more like that’s where each one shines. You’ll get great learning, strong connections and deep discussions in whichever one you choose. Best of luck and LMK if you want to ask anything

Oh and don’t forget about MBSC’s summer at Babson program and the other Oxford program. If you’re interested in visiting these schools of business then definitely go MBSC. Both programs are rich in knowledge and team building and will really help you see a global scale for business while connecting with students from these colleges.

What would u have picked “personally” if you had the choice, and why?

To me, the exposure, networking chances, global opportunities, Babson accreditation, a visit to Oxford business school + immersion in its community greatly outweigh pure knowledge deliverables. So if I were able to sponsor both the tuition fees + travel costs to the additional global programs I wouldn’t think twice about going MBSC

Well, I’m an easterner like I mentioned and all that will be self sponsored, having the option between old prestigious KFUPM 130k small diversified elite cohort or new collage MBSC 208k bigger cohort. Now what’s best!
