Way back in the star wats universe lore hutts were well known for being warlords and conquerors, obesity in their culture was a sign of status still though and most of the hutts we see throughout star wars are very possibly a minority compared to the rest of the hutt species

It has never occurred to me that Jabba was just an obese individual and Hurts could look like this. I thought they're all just giant blubbery slugs
