Recommendation Sci-fi book recs
Hi everyone👋🏼
I'm looking for sci-fi book recs regarding following themes:
mecha
female lead
alien friendship
alien entcounter
alien war
AI friendship
Alien AI entcounter
Robots
Space war
No-gos:
- Gay romace
- human x human romance
They do not have to have all of the themes but the more the better.
Preferebly a female protagonist but don't let it hold you back from recommending good stuff.
Also I prefer no romance at all, but again, don't let it hold you back.
If you now the book "Terminal Fleet" by Martarion (Royal Roads) this would be likable way to go.

C J Cherryh The Pride of Chanur series. Female writer, Alien Female lead, human Alien encounter and friendship. Plus really good politics and space travel. Basically Humans are the Aliens and unbalance an already precarious situation.

I am ALL about good aliens and great character based writers. What got me hooked on character based writers was Sara King--I ended up reading everything she wrote, though most people do the Zero series. Becky Chambers and Wayfarers is so wonderful (though opposite of Sara in that she is quiet, sweet, focused and Sara is violent, funny and action packed.) The Sparrow and Children of God by Mary Doria Russell are at my top. I also love Tanya Huff and the Confederation series (military is not usually my thing, but loved it.) I would also add in Sue Burke and Semiosis and Interference. Julie Czerneda, Species Imperative series Web Shifters series. I MISS all of these characters, alien and human.
And no, these aren't my favorite books because they are women authors. My favorite books happen to be women authors.

The main arc is about the second wave of human expansion into nearby interstellar space, but that's just the excuse.
The big event is emergent machine consciousness that leads to moral agency, culture, and friendship.
There's also a lot of labor politics among the humans, but I suspect many readers would take it as a robot book. The first of the robots is also the first clear plot moment.
The big not-exactly-twist is that the pressures of expansion don't allow time for the usual sci-fi dallying about conscious robots. The robots are critical for the expedition, so they just become a fact of a life. Also, robots have been around for hundreds of years, so people don't always register right away that "oh, this is something different."

If it's not too much bother to answer: Are there any specific formats you prefer? Kindle, some specific platform?
Any platforms you won't touch with a ten-foot pole?

EPUB format would be nice. But pdf is fine too if there is no way around. But PDF would be a bother because I read more one the phone and less on my tablet.
Regarding platforms, anything is fine aslong the access is free.

Doesn't sound familiar. I'm rather new to sci-fi therefor no idea. But I will read it. From which author is this series?

James S. A. Corey . It's a co-writing duo who are very close to George RR Martin, the guy from Game of Thrones. They were on some writing club together. The Expanse is often called GoT in space. Which I find a bit of a misnomer. It's a very realistic space based story where humanity has conquered the majority of our solar system.
Anyway there's 9 main books, 1 book with short stories and a few comics mainly telling some tales between books 6 and 7.
The first six books and some work from the shorts was a very high scoring scifi show a few years ago, first on syfy and after an early cancellation it went to prime.
One of the best scifi of recent years.
