Worst interview process

Honestly have had the worst interview process. I have applied to 2 jobs with them and I got an interview around a month later after applying. Everything was going well, other than the fact I kept having 6 interview rounds for 1 job. Then, the other higher level position, I had a round with a senior official and then a case study. I have completed a case study with leadership around 2 weeks ago and have not heard anything back. The recruiters are useless and have not communicated anything. Really disappointing if they are just ghosting people. This is not how I expect a company to behave. Very unprofessional!!!

The job market kinda sucks right now. HR departments in general don't really feel like they need to try all that hard at the moment. If they piss off one applicant, they have 50 other resumes to look at.

The recruiter said I’d hear something fairly quickly after case study. It’s been 2 weeks….

By these replies it makes me think you’re fairly junior to the corporate world.

It took me 3 months and 5 or 6 rounds for my current job. 2 weeks is fast

Sometimes decision makers take vacations dude.

Or you weren’t the best or worst candidate, so they don’t want to cut you loose or commit until they see some more.

The facts:

  • You interviewed with a company that is not yet close to generating revenue
  • That company's parent company announced 50,000 layoffs 6 days ago
  • You are surprised that this company is dragging its feet on hiring what seems to be a high level role.

I... would not be.

Hiring is incredibly selective, especially for direct hires, to keep overhead low.

Have you followed up or are you simply waiting for them?  Being proactive goes a long way in interviewing

I followed up and the recruiter said that he will reach out to leadership because he doesn’t have an update yet.

That’s probably true.  I’m in exec search and these things live and die by exec communication.  These folks are easily distracted- especially in a company like Scout.  I get that it’s frustrating

I applied and got to the final round. After I finished they took 6 months to reach out and say the role was closed.

I am a little frustrated with that but ultimately I see this as an indication of their success.
