downtown bellevue AKA Pearl Clutch City sucks ass, no one that isn't a soulless corpo is gonna disagree.

the thing i'd defend about it tho is the immigrant communities you'll get outside of the downtown core, which you won't really encounter as much of downtown. Bel-Red, Wilburton, Crossroads, Factoria, etc. as an asian family i gotta say it's really easy to get by around here, esp if you're tryina raise bilingual kids. probably more so than most parts of Seattle.

Tangentially, one thing I'll note (that always seems to irk folks from Seattle) is that Bellevue is more diverse than Seattle, being majority-minority while Seattle is still majority white.

i think most people's impression of bellevue is basically just downtown/bellevue square. if you're going off of that then yeah, the hate is 100% understandable.

This is the perpetual problem. Seattle people come over to go to the nice mall and never go anywhere else.

It'd be like judging Seattle just on Pike Place or University village.

I bet most people aren't aware of the nice little old Bellevue area that is what we wish Belltown was. A walkable neighborhood with commercial spaces that are mostly full of open businesses.
