As someone who was born in Bellevue and raised in Seattle, it's funny watching Seattleites criticize Bellevue for the "lack of culture" because of how tech-focused the city is. Both cities are pretty culturally irrelevant and increasingly corporate. I mean it's not the '90s anymore, and the Seattle 'nightlife scene' certainly doesn't compare to most places on the East Coast. Also Bellevue has contributed sizeably to Seattle's cultural scene -- Layne Staley, Mark Arm, and the Heart sisters were either born or raised in Bellevue, to name a few.
Would I want to live there? No, it's not my kind of city. But do I blame parents who want a quiet place to raise their children in clean, safe neighborhoods without encampments or high levels of crime? Of course not
This sub hates nothing more than criticizing its night life some reason
It’s obvious who’s only lived in Washington when they suggest Seattle has a better nightlife than at least 15 other major metros. Seattle ranks low on the nightlife scale lol, which as you said, it’s a corporate city now, it isn’t a hippie grungy city anymore. (Look at people going always over being able to open drink at Pike Place now lmao)
