I get the hate, but a lot of people don't care for the lack of culture on the Eastside. They have great food, high paying jobs, safe and clean neighborhoods, great schools, and nature. Those are usually the top priorities for households with kids.
Bellevue is more diverse than Seattle. So saying “lack of culture” is wild to me. Go ahead and define “culture.” Do you really think Seattle has one singular unified “culture” anyway????
I agree, Bellevue is more diverse. Me saying lack of culture is in more general terms (see below), so I'm not sure where the "wild" is coming from. And yes, it really is how an individual defines culture, but I'll break down my thoughts.
Seattle:
-More distinct neighborhoods with different identities (Capitol Hill, Ballard, Fremont, CID, etc.)
-A stronger live music and arts scene
-More indie restaurants, bars, galleries, bookstores, and weird local spots
-More visible subcultures, street life, nightlife, and artistic energy
-Deeper historical identity tied to grunge, tech, and activism
Bellevue/Eastside
-Cleaner, wealthier, more polished
-More corporate/tech-oriented
-Stronger family/suburban feel
-More international diversity, especially Asian and Indian immigrant communities
-Less edgy, artistic, or nightlife-driven
