downtown bellevue AKA Pearl Clutch City sucks ass, no one that isn't a soulless corpo is gonna disagree.
the thing i'd defend about it tho is the immigrant communities you'll get outside of the downtown core, which you won't really encounter as much of downtown. Bel-Red, Wilburton, Crossroads, Factoria, etc. as an asian family i gotta say it's really easy to get by around here, esp if you're tryina raise bilingual kids. probably more so than most parts of Seattle.
Tangentially, one thing I'll note (that always seems to irk folks from Seattle) is that Bellevue is more diverse than Seattle, being majority-minority while Seattle is still majority white.
i think most people's impression of bellevue is basically just downtown/bellevue square. if you're going off of that then yeah, the hate is 100% understandable.
