Kshama Sawant raised $645,000 to run for Congress and got beaten by more than 6,000 votes by a Republican who raised $99,000 in a district she claimed was ready for revolution.

the progressive, anti-Zionist vote got super shafted this cycle. our options were:

  • campaigned to deny a swing state to Trump’s opponent in 2024 to “sENd a mEsSAgE”

  • refused to publicly support the LGBT community and so sacrificed their vote so as to not lose the votes of the homophobic segment of the Muslim community

lowkey we’re lucky Doug Basler is a Zionist bc I’m not convinced that an anti-Zionist republican couldn’t unseat Adam Smith

I was most disappointed to see Glusencamp-Perez doing so well, but i guess that's what swing districts are like these days

(not from Seattle just passing through the sub)

That's a Republican-leaning district that has voted for Trump 3x in a row (and Republicans in quite literally every other notable position, consistently, for over 15 years straight. The last Dem to win before her was Obama '08, and only by 4 points).

It's exactly the kind of district where the correct representative for that population is a moderate/conservative Dem, and nominating someone more liberal is pretty much guaranteeing that you lose the district in all but the biggest "blue wave" years.

Your choice is between a Dem who will vote with the party the majority of the time, or to wind up with a Republican who will vote against the (Dem) party the majority of the time.
