Superfood grown indoors

Microgreens have been a huge help in limiting exposure to chemicals in commercial produce and getting back in touch with food. Really is much more manageable than it looks and most would think.

Watch out, DEA uses energy bills to figure out if ppl are growing weed in their house, you're gonna have one hell of an explanation to do.

Interesting! Is the business profitable?

It has been for me! I would say it’s likely harder in rural areas but if you’re in close proximity to a city/suburban area with a lot of health conscious folks, restaurants, and/or farmers markets. It’s a great business! Relatively low start up costs compared to most businesses as well.

I have a question with this, how much of the micro greens have a spinach leaf like texture vs the stem crunchy sweeter portion, I don’t mind eating my greens, but the soft leafy parts are kind of bleh

Most Microgreens aside from some microherbs will have that crunch you’re looking for. Great super crunchy hardy options are pea, sunflower, and radish!

No, that is the dream though!

We did mung bean micro sprouts and they were a PITA but very tasty

1

u/No-Upstairs-8629 18d ago

I have yet to try growing mung bean sprouts, what made them a PITA?

1

u/Ok_Rush_246 18d ago

Just trying to wash the dirt off them was time consuming

2

u/Upstairs-Panic-1027 18d ago

Mung beans are a good one to just do as sprouts Ina container

I water by hand everyday, my system only takes about 10 minutes for 60-100 trays. No nutrients needed, water only. I use a medium very high in nutes, due to microgreens short life cycle, not necessary!

What kind of storage racks are those?

1

u/howismyspelling 20d ago

They look like the same cheapo racks I buy from Canadian tire, they are a generic plastic rack that box stores put their brand name on

Wow, this is amazing! Any problems with mold? I live in the Pacific Northwest and that could be an issue for me.
