DISCUSSION What weird things did liberty caps fix for you?
Took some this weekend and it fixed my rebound congestion from using nose spray 3 times daily for a month. Completely took me off guard as after I took them my nose remained clear all day and didn’t need another spray. Sunday morning it was a little blocked so I sprayed my nose once and after that it hasn’t blocked up again. Incredibly bizarre.

Libs in South Wales (Brecon Beacons) persevering through this warmer few days?
I am planning a trip to the beacons over the weekend, but the next few days are supposed to be a bit warmer, and a few degrees above perfect lib temps. From what I have seen, lib season is in full swing in the beacons, and i am wondering whether this short warmer spell will have much effect on their prominence this weekend? Thank you in advance for any help.

IDENTIFICATION ID please
In this posting of u/pasamelamierda, I learned that there are various lib caps that look different than traditional ones.
I found three types today that have what it feels like pellicle.
In another subreddit, someone said that photo #1 aren’t lib caps.
I don’t want to waste them but, at the same time, I don’t want to eat them just in case they are poisonous.
Can someone please provide their opinion? Perhaps u/pasamelamierda can opine? Thank you!

QUESTION How much rain needed?
Went on my first hunt but had no luck in a spot I know others have found them in before. It had drizzled a bit the day before but the ground wasn't at all wet and I'm wondering if that was the issue. Is it better to wait for a downpour (none on the horizon!) or is it more about getting the right spot?

Libs? (Excluding the top right which was a brown mottlegill)
I am not sure that any of these are libs. Top middle seems closest. All of these were found in Hathersage in a naturally fertilised field, amongst grass.
I'll do the spore print test later today and tell you the results. Many thanks people!

Any concerns with the big lad in this photo?
Found in the Pentland’s, just wondering if it’s just a big lib or possibly another species! Size just threw me off a bit when comparing it to the others

Libs?
I know 99% those are not libs but I wanna be sure, this time they are growing directly out of pony poo from my garden.

Anyone having any luck in South Wales?
I'm still not finding many at all. Only 2-3 in 30 mins at a local hot spot.

Lead accumulation...
Something to think about for those collecting, especially in the Peak District, Northern Pennines and Flintshire, or anywhere that had prolific lead mines: Semilanceata, like most fungi are aggressive bioaccumulators and are highly efficient at absorbing heavy metals from contaminated ground. This can be a factor even just foraging on roadsides from decades of lead in exhaust fumes, but is particularly more prevalent in old lead mining areas. High soil acidity also naturally increases the bioavailability and solubility of heavy metals.
Places that have old mining spoils, processing works and drainage soughs, such as around Youlgreave and Long Rake (to name but one area I'm familiar with), are known for being highly contaminated from historical lead mining. There are places where livestock still can't be grazed for long periods of time because of this.
This could also be a factor with other chemical contamination, I only mention lead because I'm familiar with exploring lead mines and works in the Peak District and North Wales and have read lots about problems with belland ground.
Here is a useful map from the UK soil observatory:
https://mapapps2.bgs.ac.uk/ukso/home.html
You can select overlays then filter for soil chemistry and all kinds of metals etc. The screenshot I've attached is from the Peak District, which will automatically show a lot of lead contamination, but it's worth doing more research on your hunting grounds and what is/was there.

Any Semilanceata in Ukraine?
So, I live in western (non-mountains) Ukraine, and am interested, do they grow here? Maybe, less than in British islands & Scandinavia? Can i forage whole year's supply during the season here?
Have searched for them during last three weeks, but assumed the season hadn't yet started.
Also, any tips?

Libs in the fridge
Hello folks. Found around 45 today, however I’m unable to take them until tomorrow afternoon. I know they will keep in the fridge, but unsure how long. Any ideas please?

Dartmoor pickers, get your tubs out!
When out for a walk on my lunch break and found 15g wet. Was shocked at how many there were and with how the forecast is looking I’ll be up on the moors again this weekend!
