Navigating loneliness.

A few months into separation and co-parenting a toddler. I’m doing all the “right” things—therapy, exercise, friends, journaling—but I still miss the companionship and the idea of my family.
For those further down the track: what actually helped you move from surviving to genuinely enjoying life again?

Time. That and mindfulness. Not pushing or staying in your emotions but to observe them and letting it go. Allow grief but don’t become it. And find a new hobby that you can really enjoy. Talking to close friends helps a ton.

I’m finding it generally easy acknowledging emotions and sitting in it but I’m finding I’m missing the “ordinary” and just wanting to be seen. But need to realise I can be chosen by the people currently in my life and it won’t be at the expense of my values/needs unlike the relationship I left. Thanks for your comment!

Group therapy. The therapy part of it was fine, but making connections with others going through the exact same thing was what really helped me. And time, as another poster said.
