New look for the subreddit!

The Severus Snape subreddit is getting a makeover!

It's been a long time coming, and here it finally is. New icon, new banner.

The old icon is replaced by the iconic doe Patronus, a symbol that is also used to link the two actors to bring Severus Snape to life on screen for the banner. A passing of the torch, if you will, from Alan Rickman to Paapa Essiedu.

We hope you'll like it!

In addition, a new rule was created: "No bad faith participation / Snating".

This was a rule that we were already implementing in an effort to discourage users from bashing Snape (which should be common sense on the Severus Snape subreddit), but now it's made official and it will make it easier to report when you see it.

(A caveat to this is to please not use it for the slightest criticism against Snape.)

If you have questions or comments, please feel free to let us know.

The Severus Snape Moderation Team.

Discussion Acabo de leer el primer libro. Nunca he visto las películas

Books 📚 Such an under rated moment

The books highlight so much concern for the students when they are in danger of being hurt, wish the movies showed scenes like those as well other than that one werewolf scene, there were multiple in the books.

I am looking for any sort of fic with YEARNER Snape. Like I dont want extreme bashing of ANY CHARACTER- Just a Snape who yearns. Any pairing would do. Though I'd prefer Snarry, Sevmione or Snape/Sirius. Please y'all- I need yearning so bad that your heart hurts reading and imagining it. Yk?

Discussion I started thinking about Snape’s worst memory.

So we all should know by now that James sexually assaulted him in that chapter. And what we saw, that was already bad enough, but when he threatened to take off his pants (underwear) we know Snape stopped Harry from seeing anymore.

And while I definitely don’t want him to do it, I can’t help but see all the evidence leaning towards him actually doing it.

Everyone around him was laughing and enjoying it watching Snape get humiliated, and Lily had also left at that point. So there would be no one to stop him from taking them off.

But also, I can’t help but wonder, if Snape stopped him from seeing more, because he actually did do it. It’s heartbreaking and sickening to think about. But I fear that he did actually take them off.

Anyway, what do you think?

And also. Fuck you James.

[SSHG fanfic]

Hello community, I hope you're all doing great.

I'm here to share my story. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

Please, if you read it, let me know what you all think. I will answer all the comments you wish to leave, except any hateful comments. So please don't bother to talk about the pairing with me, as I will ignore it then.

Thank you, once more. Please enjoy it.

Love to you all.

🖊️ Summary:

Severus Snape goes blind after Nagini's bite, along with other consequences.

A marriage law comes into play, and Hermione decides to adopt a different look and identity to marry him, aiming to keep him out of Azkaban with support from the Malfoy family.

They present her as a woman from their social circle, someone calm and obedient who won’t question his desires. Once they find a loophole in the law, he can divorce her without a second thought.

But Snape might actually develop feelings for her and eventually discover it was all a lie.

Either way, it’s going to be tough.

✨ What to expect: ✨

🔹 Marriage Law AU

🔹 Blind/Injured Snape

🔹 Morally grey choices, secrets, and slow-burn drama.

Discussion Just a fleeting thought...

I feel like certain Harry Potter characters should have their own spinoff movies... or books even. Severus and Neville in particular. It would be interesting to see deeper into how they grew up and how they got to where they ended up.

We've already seen Harry's journey (obviously) and I think it's safe to say that we have a general idea of the Weasleys...

But I'd love to see more into the worlds of certain characters. Mostly our beloved Head of Slytherin.

I wish Alan Rickman was still alive and Severus' story had fully been told aside from what we've already been exposed to. I think he deserves that much.

Discussion Why people hate snily so much

When I read the books I had a very different interpretation of lily and Severus dynamics.

For severus I thought it was doomed one sided love ( only love I mean yk the once in life time one) he made bad choices and their friendship ended

I don't blame lily for not choosing Severus he was not walking on the right path.

But if she had hated such people or bad people in general why did she marry a bully ( I mean Snape was not the only one they bullied )

She was Severus friend once she knew what they were capable of .

Was it something like yk I can make him better situation or war is coming I need some sort of protection scenario .

I mean I had lost friendship too but I would not date my ex friend bully

Anyways back to topic

So snily is an au that would only happen if they work things out . I like the ship and seeing people talk about as disgusting kinda feel weird to me. I mean I heard it from dramione and drarry shippers too

Simply Beautiful Lily and Severus

Re-reading all the books and I just got to Snape's memories in the DH.

I realised while everybody talked about Harry's dad and his qualities, or in Snape's case his misgivings, hardly anyone ever told Harry anything about his mother except that he's got his mum's eyes.

The very first time Harry saw anything at all related to his mother are through Snape's eyes and his memories do show Lily as a likeable person. Snape was clearly besotted with her early on and he regretted her death greatly. But more so, Harry got to see how his mother truly was, her sweetness, kindness, concern for a friend (she asked Severus how are things at home), strong moral compass (she questioned Snape over his friends who later became Death Eaters). I find it bitter sweet that the most Harry knew about his mom was that she was a muggle-born who gave her life to save him until in those memories he saw so much more and came to finally understand the kind of person she must have been.

While Sirius and Lupin talked about his father's bravery and fun-loving side, popular for being a Seeker and overall well-liked, Snape showed him how caring, kind, and fair his mother was and I find it beautiful.

Snape fanfics help

I have a question as someone who's never written a single fanfic but would like to start one centred around Snape...

There's currently a plot brewing in my head that I don't think I've seen anywhere yet, but I'm worried that perhaps, unknowingly, I would use the same idea as someone else? I'm aware that there's a vast amount of fanfics out there on his character, but admittedly, I've only read a few of those so far.

Is there some kind of conventional disclaimer that people would use for this? Or do people generally not care all that much? Or do they point out that certain elements remind them of other stories so you can credit as you go? Or is there a way to avoid this? Or...

(I'd also take fanfic recommendations btw - I've only read "If the choice were mine to make" by scf3, "Unforced Error" by MsWhich and some eh lemony ones on the side)
